Had its positives, bathroom clean, bed was comfy but a lot of negatives too, WiFi cuts out, no sockets near the bed, no bottled water , no fridge, minimal tea and coffee with no biscuits and expected to pay an extra tenner for parking. Room was a bit rough also. Not hoovered under the bed, I hate nuts.Would not return.

My parents who traveled four hours to help me move home reserved a room at the Holiday Inn. Before booking (two weeks prior) due to the current restrictions, we called the hotel to check if they would be allowed to stay. We were told by the lady at the reception that because they were helping me move house and were in my bubble, they would be able to stay. On arriving at the hotel quite late at night, after helping me move all day, they were told by the man at reception they were not allowed to stay due to government restrictions. After explaining they lived four hours away and had checked with the hotel before booking, because they didn’t have the name of the lady we spoke to, there was nothing he could do and sent them away. My parents are now stuck in Lincoln (four hours from home) at night, with nowhere to stay! I called the hotel myself to see if there was anything they could do and spoke to the same man who turned them away. I explained they were four hours from home and unable to travel back but there was still nothing he could do. It was clear from the call that he couldn’t care less and he wasn’t exactly apologetic about the situation. Had we been advised correctly by the lady we spoke to initially, we would have arranged differently. Serious customer service issues! Furious!

Dear Hollie, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience at Holiday Inn Lincoln. I would like to start by apologising to you for not meeting your expectations. This not the service we want to provide. we follow all government guidelines around travel and have processes in place to ensure we adhere to all the restriction. I would like I speak with you further privately in order to gain a better understanding. I apologise for any lack of communication from the hotel and we will investigate this internally. We do hope to see you return in the future. Again, thank you for sharing your comments, and if I can be of assistance to you, please contact me directly at gsm.hilincoln@kewgreen.co.uk. My expectations of the Holiday Inn Lincoln were high so I was very disappointed with my experience. The location is very good, close to the city centre, cathedral, university and the transport interchange; very handy for a range of restaurants, pubs, cinemas and retail therapy in the shopping district and the University of Lincoln campus. However the hotel itself is showing its age, despite some decor and furniture updates, this is not the contemporary hotel described on the website. You stay at a hotel for sleep, I was woken up over six times during the night by slamming doors etc and was difficult to return to sleep thanks to the snoring I could hear through the thin walls; trying to inform reception of the issues was hampered by the room telephone not working. Although the bed benefitted from very good pillows and duvet the mattress was like sleeping on a solid plank of wood. The TV was poor, the Wi-Fi absolutely useless, the carpet was stained, the desk chair was broken, the iron leaked, no bedside power in fact only one useable plug in the whole room; I could continue and highlight more issues. The Covid 19 protocols and procedures though present, staff seemed to not care about them, were far too relaxed about an important issue; for instance, there was no evidence of the ‘new queuing system’ at reception. Sad to say that this hotel is, far from, the four-star establishment that I was expected when I booked. I cannot, unfortunately, recommend this hotel, which is a shame given that with a little effort this could be a great hotel.

This hotel is ideal for a break to Lincoln. In a lovely location right by the river with everything a short walk away! Staff were all very pleasant and nothing was too much hassle which gives the hotel a very nice feel. A special shoutout the housekeeping as they were very accommodating and friendly. The only reason this is 4 star instead of 5 is because of an issue with breakfast that we ordered to the room, the order was lost but this was rectified and dealt with brilliantly. Thanks for making our stay a good one :) We will be back!

We went here for afternoon tea With a Groupon deal. The hotel overlooks The Brayford pool. We were seated overlooking this on a lovely sunny day. The tea was well presented and delicious with choice finger sandwiches, cakes and scones with jam and cream. (+ Prosecco) The staff were friendly and tables were well spaced and there were plenty of hand sanitisers dotted around.
