Just returned from a Monday to Friday stay. Faded elegance and it's best years are well behind. All meals are buffet style, obviously to save on staff costs and is only average quality. Although the beds were quite comfortable they looked as though somebody had just knocked them up in the garage with the spindly legs and casters on view....

I was in a rush to find somewhere close to family, since the illuminations had finished a lot of hotels seemed to have great deals on rates, I initially thought that this was a way of keeping business going through the out of season time for the hotels. Looking at it now - it is probably because they knew which...

Stayed here a few years ago and although the downstairs reception, bar & restaurant were lovely upstairs was very different with threadbare carpets on the landing and stairs and the rooms were very dated. Been this weekend and a big improvement - all new carpets and décor upstairs, lovely fresh room you could actually relax in instead of wanting to...

When I last stayed at this hotel I was very disappointed. We have given it another chance and was pleasantly surprised. Definitely improved. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money.

I visited this hotel many times over the years before it was taken over by Britainnia and i always remember it being nice. Old fashioned but charming. It's an absolute hovel now! There doesn't seem to be enough staff to service the restaurant, reception and bar. On the mornings we went for breakfast we were not even acknowledged. To get...

Outside looks fantastic but that's where it ends! Our 'Executive' room was on the top floor, which gave us ample opportunity to use the lift which could fit no more than 3 people comfortably on a few occasions. The walk from the lift to the extra flight of stairs and then our room soon revealed that the artwork along the...

We stayed here for a 3 night stay during the 60's Tribute weekend. We were 4 couples in separate rooms. The first impression from outside is that it was a very impressive building in its time and this continued when you walked into the main reception area. Rather impressive but a little tired. We were on the 2nd floor and...

Hotel is a dump, toilets don't flush, trickle of water comes out of shower, creeky floor boards keep you awake at night, only one lift that only takes 3 people. Queues for buffet food at meals time. Table and chairs all crammed in together. Furniture in lounge area torn ans dirty. Bar prices high. Building needs a risk assessment
