Well located near to the railway stn., with plenty of parking available around the area with a small 5mins. walk into town centre. The room was clean and comfortable with small personal touches which added to a very friendly and pleasant stay. Breakfast was available with a large range of foods to satisfy everyones tastes and the large cooked breakfast...

We visited for my birthday and only stayed the night. Very easy to find, fantastic location and easy access to the room on arrival (secure key box). We stayed in room 3 which of course as the other reviews state, is the largest area of the cottage due to the separate TV/DVD room and the extra shower room. However this...

We were lucky to book the Orrest at the last minute on a flash visit to the lakes (we found out later that we only got it because of a last minute cancellation) ... and we were very pleasantly surprised! They've got a great system where on arrival you don't even need to meet the owners - you recover your...

Visited as a surprise from my girlfriend for 2 nights. We found the stay homely, cosy and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our varied choices of breakfasts each morning especially the eggs from the spice hens. Overall a great experience and wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Thanks David.

Stayed in Room 2 for 1 night, every last detail is there! Loved the personal touches - the welcome sign, the jelly beans, even the bottles of shampoo etc. The room was cost, bed was very comfy & the shower was lovely and powerful. Loved the idea of the key locks, we could come & go as we wanted and...

Had a great stay at Orrest! We had room number 3, right on top with a private loft! Loved the extra space to watch TV and just chill. Bed was comfortable but must beware of the slanted ceiling, can get bumped on the head. Convenient location. Train station was about 200m away, so was the Booths supermarket. Cafés, restaurants all...

We stayed here after taking part in the great north swim. It is a very nice little b&b. Plenty of choice for breakfast and the food was amazing! Welcomed with a chocolate orange, choice of tea, coffe or galaxy hot chocolate in the room which was fantastic!

We really had a great time when we were in Orrest Cottage in May. The location is convenient, just 2 minutes walk to windermere station, and 30 minutes walk to the Lake in Bowness. The breakfast is fantastic! The owner David comes to cook breakfast for his guests every morning, his culinary skill is really good, I love the traditional...

Stopped for the night in May with my boyfriend and we felt the £85 tag expensive, especially given just a few weeks previous we'd had an apartment for £85 per night with our own kitchen/diner/lounge in a major city. When we walked up the 2 flights of stairs, we got in the room to find it small & cramped, indeed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
David & Laura would like to invite you to stay with them in their cozy three-story 19th-century Lakeland Cottage situated in the town of Windermere, in the beautiful English Lake District. Orrest Cottage has been refurbished to give a contemporary feel and atmosphere. There are three comfortable en-suite rooms, each able to accommodate two adults. Wake up and look forward to a delicious Lakeland breakfast. To boost your appetite there is lots of fresh Lake District air and certainly plenty of local walks and many starting from just outside the front door. Across the road is the start of the Orrest Head walk, made famous by Lakeland author Alfred Wainwright, it offers you some of the most stunning views over the Lake District fells. We are ideally located just 200m, if you're walking, from either Windermere railway station or the main bus stop at Windermere Tourist Information and we're just the same distance from the centre of town. For your convenience we are Wi Fi enabled, and can offer you flexible check–in times to suit your needs. Check-out is by 10am. ... more   less
