We had an overnight stay at Bank House last week. We were welcomed in by the friendly, helpful owner even though we had arrived a little early. We were shown to our very comfortable room overlooking the garden with a large ensuite shower and were offered tea or fresh coffee and cake. The owners had kindly bought in gluten free...

I spent a night at Bank House and it was splendid. Antique furnishings, warm and comfortable surroundings, congenial hosts and a delicious breakfast. Generous hosts looked after me with refreshments after I arrived in the late evening, and drove me to my meeting in the morning when a taxi wasn't available.

I can't praise Bank House enough. It is by far the best BnB I have ever stayed in.. This was my third visit. Breakfasts to die for; scrumptious home made cake (by Sarah) available with tea and coffee and fresh fruit throughout the day; very warm welcome; tea, coffee and fab biscuits in room; hosts who go not only that...

A last minute decision to stay in Penrith over Christmas resulted in a wonderful stay at Bank House. The room was beautifully furnished and cosy, with lots of attention to detail and a great view. The food was delicious, from home-made Christmas cake to an exceptional breakfast with many options to suit all tastes. If given the chance, this Californian...

We spent two nights here in November 2016. One of the nicest B&Bs we've stayed in - the welcome could not have been warmer, the rooms were warm and comfortable and the view from the bedroom just stunning. Breakfast was wonderful - local produce, home-made bread, free range eggs - really delicious. We can't recommend Bank House highly enough.

I stayed in the twin room with a friend. The room was comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing! We hardly needed any lunch after those. And that doesn't mean it was all unhealthy things. There were cooked breakfasts available, yoghurts, fresh fruit salad (not basic apples & bananas, but strawberries, kiwis, blueberries and raspberries - delicious!), two types of home made...

My wife and I stayed here during the Ullswater Walking Festival in September 2016. We stayed 4 Nights and loved every minute. The prices were much better than anything inside the National Park limits and it's only a short drive to Ullswater. Breakfast was great with choices of Porridge / Cereals / Full English etc. All locally sourced and great...

Thank you so much for your very kind review. Penrith is very close to the National Park Border and we consider walks round Ullswater and Keswick as our local walks. In fact we are very close to the Pennines and people often take day trips to Hadrians wall and even the Dales. We have lots of laminated maps of the...

This B&B is about a mile from the train station, but worth the walk for the quiet alone. A friend who stayed near the station was kept awake all night by music from the pubs. Penrith is a traffic clogged city. Banks House is in a well-to-do, formal neighborhood. One can expect a micro-room with a double bed. (Expect to...

Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and excellent coffee. Last, but not least,Sarah and Dean made us feel very welcome. We love Penrith and will definitely be returning to Bank House. Highly...

My husband and I stayed here for one night two years ago on our journey to Scotland and loved it then. This time our son and daughter in law were joining us for a holiday in Scotland and we required two rooms on the return journey. Once again Sarah was able to oblige us where very few guest houses are...
