Stayed at this hotel in Penrith after a day trip to London deciding we didn’t want to make the 40 mile journey home after a long day. We were not disappointed bed was exceptionally comfortable lovely clean accommodation very accommodating hosts. Our train was delayed but it wasn’t a problem arriving late, but outstanding issue was breakfast. It was cooked to order exceptionally high quality non-greasy and was a great end to the stay at this property. Will definitely be an option for us in the future

A well run guest house by hosts Gordon and Jocelyn. We were a party of 16 male golfers playing the area for 3 nights. Nice clean hotel with a good breakfast and the hosts were pleasant and sociable. Golf clubs could be stored in an outside secure shed in the garden. Parking at the front and side of the hotel was fine and just a 5 minute walk into town. We filled all of the rooms.
We would definitely use this hotel again should we golf in the area again.
Thanks for looking after us .

The Acorn Guest House is centrally located in Penrith and a comfortable walk to downtown. The accommodations are welcoming and satisfying. A fine place to stay and have a good night's sleep. The hosts are pleasant, helpful and warm. They accommodated. our every request. I was thrilled that they served us haggis with our breakfast. When checking in I mentioned that haggis is a favorite dish. While I can't be sure I suspect the hosts obtained it especially for me. I shall return.

Easy to find location sited on the Carlisle road leaving Penrith, some limited parking on wide pavement in front of premises. Traffic noise may be a problem for some people. Good stop over for cyclists on tour and also ideal for back packers en route. Some negatives-Breakfast is extra cost, consider other local eating establishments, internal decor tired and some rooms access by 2 flights of stairs.

First, the good points. The owner kindly let us check in slightly early, there was somewhere secure to leave our bikes, the breakfast was good ( fresh fruit to start) and the guest house is conveniently situated
We had paid in advance, but when the owner saw our electric bikes, it seemed he arbitrarily decided to charge us an extra £5 per bike “ because of rising energy costs”. Bike batteries are NOT like electric vehicle batteries and cost very little to charge up:< 50p at the most and much less than boiling a kettle several times, so we thought this was a bit much, especially as the internet wasn’t working in our room (4) all night, to which the owner responded “ yes it is!” ,and, “ well, no-one else has complained”
The owner, we felt, had a somewhat confrontational attitude and we would not recommend staying here, despite the convenience , as it’s right on the main road and our room was very noisy and hot.

We have just come back from staying the full weekend at the Acorn Guest House.
The B and B is lovely and clean. Our room was spacious and had everything you needed. Lovely hot showers. Breakfast each morning was spot on.
The owners are friendly and can't do enough for you.
The guest house was a great location for us as we used it as a base for a local festival.
It has parking out front, free WiFi and very reasonably priced. Would definitely book again 🙂

Was booked to stay here for one night in June this year.
Due to the Covid situation the guest house was closed so I emailed the owner, Gordon and asked for a refund of the £88 I had paid for a single occupancy of a double room.
I also explained that I would be unable to transfer the booking to a later date.
He informed me that he did not offer refunds (even when his guest hose is closed!) and that transferring my booking was his "final offer"
No refund has been forthcoming and I have lost £88.
I can only warn anyone else planning on staying here not to pay any money up front as you will lose it should another lockdown situation occur.

We booked on a voucher deal as our Christmas present to ourselves and what a gift it was!
Gordon and his wife were fantastic hosts from start to finish. Both were happy to chat whenever we passed but weren't at all intrusive, it's a difficult balance which they have clearly mastered.
Bed was huge and room was spotlessly clean. There are a couple of touch ups to grouting in the bathroom which might need looked at soon but that and the lack of biscuits on the tea tray were the only very minor negatives we could find. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice in the continental which is what I opted for. Hubby chose to pay a little extra for a cooked breakfast and it came out fresh, hot and perfectly presented. Very happy (can be fussy!!) hubby.
All in all a very comfortable stay and one we would happily repeat

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 night stay at Acorn Guest House and are missing it already. The hosts were great: warm and welcoming, nothing was too much bother and there for great advice about what to do in the local and surrounding areas. The room was perfect. Generous sized with a huge bathroom, comfortable with everything we would need and more and the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in. Breakfast in the morning was lovely. Fresh fruit, nice bread and continental selection and the choice of cooked breakfast. We had a cooked breakfast on both mornings it was that good. Perfectly cooked, good quality ingredients and not greasy at all, which I usually find cooked breakfasts to be. This place is an absolute gem and if we are in the area again we will most certainly be booking to stay here again. Thanks again for a lovely stay!

Stopped here for a few nights over August bank holiday weekend. I can't recommend the place enough. The rooms are spotless and very well appointed. Huge beds and very comfortable. The breakfast hits the mark with delicious, local ingredients well cooked and served with a smile.

Despite the surroundings it's the couple running the hotel that make the experience. So genuinely friendly and always willing to provide recommendations for days out or places to eat and drink. We took them up on a couple of suggestions and were not disappointed.

If you find yourself in the area and are looking for a place to base yourself I can't recommend the Acorn Guest House highly enough.
