Went on a on long walk and was hoping to come across a pub/toilet. We came across 'The Heights Hotel' which sadly was closed. However the owners kindly invited us in to use their toilet, even though they were in the middle of renovation. Very kind and very much appreciated, we will be back when you re-open on the 18th...

Yet again another great 4 nights with Barry, Van & Daimon, as ever we were made welcome and made to feel welcome throughout our stay. Food, hospitality and bar were first class and we love coming here even though we are not Vegetarians. I'm sure we will be returning. The Height is very handy for getting around The Lake District...

What can I say another fun filled night in Barrys bar watching the last night of the proms. Barrys fine ale was flowing and a patriotic evening ensured with singing and flag waving, Barry even dined us with fortune cookies, (what a guy). Barry always pulls out all the 'stops' to ensure we have a ball when we come up...

We spent a very pleasant few days staying at the Heights Hotel. Barry and Van were perfect hosts and the room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and in the evening a visit to the cozy bar was a great place to relax. The Hotel is vegetarian but don't let that put the meat eaters off as the food...

Yet another visit to this small hotel. Barry and Van were once again the best hosts around. Left us to our own devices which we loved but always available if required. Room at the top of the hotel is large, shower fantastic with soap and shampoo, everything clean and the bed was very comfortable. Maybe a little chilly especially in...

I didn't stay at the Hotel but have been going to the bar for 9 years an it is simply the best bar in Britain. It hasn't changed, it is small and quirky and very friendly. Van and Barry are the perfect hosts. There is real ale at the bar and the food is fantastic. I am not a veggie...

We've been to the bar here on a previous camping trip and it usually suits us quite well. My hubby is veggie and although the place is very dated, we quite like the quirkiness and being fully vegetarian, you are guaranteed something other than cheese pasta for a meal after a days walking. We turned up on 13 July to...

We have just had a really lovely weekend week end staying here with our two Great Danes. Beautiful setting and stunning views over the water and up to the mountains. (or hills as I insisted on calling them ;) ) We found Barry and Van warm friendly and very welcoming, even though we sprung an extra Dog on them at...

Didn't stay in the hotel but went to the bar to dry out following a damp evening in our tent on the adjacent camp site. Old fashioned but romantic with nice beer and a welcoming feel. Thanks for adding some fun to our adventures and a positive talking point post visit!!
