We take our caravan to Ayside in Cumbria each year and about 3 weeks ago popped into the Gilpin Bridge for lunch. It was fabulous, great food terrific host and very enjoyable. We have since been back 3 times and each time has been excellent.

After thankfully bypassing the crowded villages by the Lake District it was a welcome sight to be in this quaint local hotel just outside the hustle & bustle. We stayed one night, room was compact but clean, dinner was really great we had local proper country pub meals accompanied with great local beer. A recommended walk around the area after...

We embarked on an impulsuve unexpected journey to Levens to surprise family who were on a weekend away. We couldn't book in to their accommodation as it was full but the Gilpin Bridge Inn was nearby so we rang and booked. I called away 9.30pm to book a 1 night stay the following evening and I'm glad I did!!! We...

Very friendly, excellent quality real ales (and I am very fussy about my beer!) plus they very generously allowed me to park a motorhome overnight in their car park, which meant I could get breakfast the next morning!! I really couldn't rate it higher!

We visited the lake district over Easter, Madness you may think, yes everywhere was extremeley busy, however if you travel out from the main drag really just a few miles away you can find the Gilpin, its a lovely freindly pub, warm welcome, good food, very extensive menu with something for everyone, and drink! worth a little detour.

We called in passing for a drink and found that renovations have taken place since the new manager took over a year ago. We ended up staying for a few and finished off with a very tasty chicken liver pate' followed by excellent fish and chips. We will be back!!

I went to the pub for a meal with a family member. At the time we got there, there was 4 other people in the pub eating. We were given menus and sat ourselves down. No one came over to see if we would like a drink and we were not told what the soup of the day and pie...

Quaint, old inn with character. Bedroom a little on the small side but very comfortable bed. Nice corner bath with overhead shower.Varied selection on menu & food was hot & plentiful. Breakfast very good. Staff were warm & friendly & provided excellent service. Nice seating area outside (yes we had sunshine) with small, enclosed children's play area. Short drive to...
