We went to the red lion on Monday lunchtime after reading some good reviews. The front door was open, when we went in the chairs were on the table so I asked "Are you open?" "no" was all the answer we received . So we duly walked out and had a superb meal in the King's Arms. It wouldn't have... More

Went in here on 5th Nov, just before the firework display, initially because none of the other pubs were serving food at that time of the day, the pub had a nice atmosphere and was very busy, the owners were very friendly and the food was great, we often go to hawkshead and we will always go in here now.

We regularly stop at The Red Lion for lunch or a drink when biking/walking through Hawskhead. It's got a tradiontiinal English pub warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. It's also dog friendly. My husband also likes it because there's always sa sporting event on the TV. The pub provides a great pub lunch and it's just what you need after a... More

We were there on a Saturday night in November. The pub was packed, full of local people. Quite a lively atmosphere. When we placed our order, we were told it would take 45 minutes, and our food came 45 minutes later. It was good quality pub food, with a pleasant presentation and generous quantity. We were very happy with it.

Nice friendly pub, dogs welcome. Staff friendly, good pub food. 7 of us stopped here on a visit to the area. Can get busy at times, you can book a table in the restaurant but dogs only allowed in the bar area. Car park not far away.

We tried all of the pubs in Hawkshead and even though there wasn't a bad place here this was my husbands favourite. Fabulous food, good atmosphere, attentive staff, open fire, background music and dog friendly. Gets busy around meal times.

Stopped in for lunch on a rainy afternoon. Food was great with good service. Would go again anytime in Hawkshead. Good range of traditional pub classics on the menu, all portions were plentiful and nicely presented.

Staying in Hawkshead for the week we tried the Red Lion for an evening meal. Staff are all fantastic and although the pub was busy on our visit service was good and we were serviced quickly. Food was excellent and the portion sizes were enormous. Being a dog friendly pub you can even buy a meal for your four legged... More

The Red Lion is set in a picturesque olde world street, which is a great setting for anybody wishing to see a traditional old English pub. The Red Lion has a good selection of beers, spirits & wines. The food menu has a good selection for all tastes. We ate on a Friday, So it had to be Fish, Chips... More

What makes a great pub? My wife and l have been here twice. Once for drink and the second time for food. Both visits were enjoyable because of: The great staff behind the bar who could not do enough. The lovely and pleasent interior of the pub and the great choice of drinks. The relaxed atomsphere where tourists and locals... More
