Wonderful location, superb hosts and great hospitality. We had all three rooms of the B&B to ourselves which worked out really well for our family. All the rooms are very nicely turned out and our 4 year old daughter was particularly charmed by the romance of such an old property (1695 I think?) with window seats overlooking the lake, colourful...

A warm welcome was provided on arrival; with great hospitality throughout our two night stay. Despite the poor weather we thoroughly enjoyed our break away. We enjoyed an excellent homemade porridge with whiskey and brown sugar and a fantastic evening meal of chicken in white wine sauce and seasonal vegetables. Finishing off with chocolate and pear crumble with ice cream....

My husband booked a night at Howe Farm for my birthday, what a lovely warm welcome we got from Lisa and family. Reuben was lighting the fire in the lounge when we arrived. Lisa showed us to our cosy bedroom and waiting for us in lounge was a pot of tea and very generous delicious cake. We had decided to...

This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in! The host Lisa, was a really authentic host and knew exactly how to put the finer touches on everything. She is a real foodie and the breakfast was absolutely gorgeous! I don't think any 5 star hotel could rival Lisa's cooking! I went up with my friend Charlie and we...

What a gem we discovered in Howe Farm! The location was fantastic as the scenery was spectacular and the field walk into Hawkshead was about 20 minutes. Lisa, the hostess, could not have been more friendly or obliging. Her cooking was first class with the breakfasts being tasty and plentiful. The evening meals she provided were every bit as delicious....

We've just stayed for four night and really appreciated the warm welcome, stunning surroundings and beautiful farmhouse. It would have been hard to ask for more. Lisa is a wonderful host. Nothing is too much trouble. Proper, full English breakfast (although I highly recommend baked eggs as an alternative!) and the option of a very decent evening meal too. You...

Everything about our stay was perfect. You couldn't ask for better hospitality, views, food or location. I would visit again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend. Beautiful farmhouse and grounds, waking distance to grizedale forest and we were well looked after when we came back soaking wet. Lisa out on a log fire, dried out clothes and provided sherry...

Four of us stayed at Howe Farm in early June and it turned out to be a very good find. The hosts couldn't have been more hospitable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, there was always fresh water in the rooms and in the fridge downstairs. Lisa cooked us some delicious evening meals and worked around our food sensitivities cheerfully....

We travelled up to the Lake District from Birmingham for a one-night stay in the Ambleside area and were so pleased to have found this little gem. As we were late arrivals we asked for a platter to be arranged and were completely amazed at the lovely food which was ready for us when we arrived - all served in...
