When I asked the kids if they felt at home at Thorney How, they said, "Yes, except the food was way better here." My son gave the chicken pie a 10 thumbs up. It was a great place to stay for our walking holiday. There were plenty of easy ish routes for our 5 & 7 year old, on the...

We only stayed one night on this visit, but were impressed with the warm welcome, comfortable, clean room and the bonus of an excellent exhibition of poetry and photographs in the bar/café area. Lovely sipping beer outside at dusk listening to owls in the peaceful countryside. Although the place was almost full, guests were hard to spot! A general atmosphere...

For people on the Coast to Coast this is very adequate but a quite a bit of privacy is sacrificed with shared bedrooms and facilities. Also the proprietors clearly don't appreciate that some customers do NOT want to sleep/eat/try to relax with the constant presence of a few cats...the only good cat is a dead cat. However the Pizza Night...

A reassuring note for our future guests. We take all our reviews very seriously and always heed our guests comments in order to continuously improve the offer here at Thorney How. However, on this occasion we feel that the well-being of the two cats that can often be found in our reception area is more important in order that they...

Thank you for this great review. For those considering undertaking Scafell we recommend that you check your routes in advance with a good map and also the journey time required to travel there and back by car.
