We stayed at the Black bull 4 nights and I must say what a warm welcome from staff food was excellent and breakfast was fantastic in these uncertain times nothing was to much trouble we will definitely be back thank you
We were welcomed very warmly after a blustery fell walk with our two (very big) dogs and shown to a table in the snug whrte we could enjoy our meal in seclusion. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating - the service was quick, attentive and polite and the food was very good. If you see anyone leaving negative feedback in what must be very stressful times for the hospitality trade then that will say much more about them than it does about this establishment. We have seen some appalling behaviour ourselves and, more often than not, it has been from those professing to be exempt from wearing a mask and it is left to those working in such places to enforce regulations- not an enviable task. I would urge anyone to enjoy the excellent hospitality offered in this pub. And the beer is outstanding!…
We visited today, as we are up here working, 3 lads, wanted a nice meal and a couple of pints. Upon entering, the chap behind the bar looked at me, and said "mask" even though I had my excemption card and lanyard clearly visible. I replied with I am excempt, he then said, well find a table then! Then a woman came over to our table, slammed some menus down and said do you live together! We said we live on a boat together so yes we do. The icy atmosphere, the rude staff, and to be made to feel in a sense bullied by the staff, will never make me return to this place! Zero atmosphere and terrible manners
Had Sunday lunch there and it was terrific! Staff were friendly and service was quick. Portions were great, I couldn't eat a pudding on my own so we shared. Beer is brilliant, brewed on the premises & multi award winning!
Very cold bedroom. Had to wear fleece jacket in bed. Very poor breakfast tray, fruit furry & bread rolls very hard. Nice evening meal when the proper vegetables arrived. Good beer, they brew on site. Waitress staff very good. Single person supplement would be good as £100 single occupancy in a twin room not worth it.
