We booked this cottage principally to hole ourselves up in and watch all the Harry Potter movies and it was the perfect place. The cottage really is splendidly put together and maintained. The master bedroom is a real treat. The helical staircase from the living room makes it an easy commute to a truly beautiful place to sleep. We also had friends and family come to stay with us. The cottage is ideal for 4 but can easily hold at least 6. I would really recommend making a big supermarket run en route and then utilising the great cooking and dining space with friends in the evening. This is not to say that the local area doesn't have have fantastic restaurants (L'enclume and Miller Howe) were both fantastic. The local pub and shop in Coniston were regularly frequented for the essentials and anything we needed from the shop. Ideally placed for a stroll up The Old Man (or at least get to the tarn half way upas its beautiful!), this is a great place to relax with friends, enjoy the best of the lakes and even to curl up and imagine you are in the Gryffindor common room.

Spent a lovely weekend here 4/10/13 with friends - 6 in total. Cycling and then walking Bowfell. Cottage is well equipped and of high quality. Very warm and cosy. Just down the hill to village and a great pub with good food. We will definitely be back.

Spent a long weekend here last weekend with family (kids 9 and 7) and mother-in-law (77). We really loved it. I had read many great press reviews and I thought I might be disappointed but it really was great - fantastic location with mountains to climb just behind the house and only 15 minute walk to lovely Coniston village and lake. Quiet and peaceful, when you opened the bedroom window you could hear the stream bubbling along near by and the birds. We had (surprisingly) great weather and sat in the sunny walled garden for lunch, but had it been wet, the log fire, great looking DVD and CD collection, plus games would have still made it a great weekend. The owners were very kind and helpful and recommended a restaurant that we booked ahead. Would really recommend this, although it's not cheap.
