After a day's mountaineering it was a pleasure to check in at the Old Rectory which is well sign posted and easy to find in such a lovely quiet location with beautiful views. Ann is very welcoming and offered hot drinks and home made cake on arrival, which is an offer not to refuse. The freshly made breakfast buffet along...

This was the 3rd time we have stayed, but the first time we have written a review. We aren't ones for staying in the same place more than once but this b&b is so good we simply have to keep returning. Anne is such a welcoming hostess with coffee & homemade cakes on arrival, the breakfast freshly prepared, the room...

This is the very best hotel we've ever stayed in - anywhere! Ann is a perfect hostess and proprietor, and the food is absolutely excellent, as are the room facilities. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves the Lake District.

Great welcome from Ann with tea and cake on arrival. Room mini-bar/fridge had complimentary milk and cooled water, and there was a great cake provided too for late night nibbles. Room was comfortable and clean with a view of the Old Man of Coniston too. This B&B is closest to the Priestley Centre for those who are visiting old University...

Our second visit to The Old Rectory which was again most enjoyable. A good location for walking. No need to move the car. Ann's cooking is very good .. we had a DBB arrangement. A large breakfast to start the day and a delicious varied evening meal after a good days' walking. Christine and Claire on hand for breakfasts +...

After a very good few days in London, we came up to the Lake District and stayed at The Old Rectory Coniston (there is another with a very similar name in Millom so be sure you go to the one you booked!). On our arrival we were given tea and cakes in the lounge (quite unexpected). The ginger cake was...

Excellent hospitality, warm, friendly with a very personal touch from the proprietor Ann. Amazing home cooked food, lovely rooms in beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend this gem of a B&B as a cosy base as you explore the Lake District and the peaceful surroundings of Coniston. Would go again!

Apart from the title the rooms were also good, clean, warm and cosy. Lovely views over countryside. Extra touches in the rooms like sherry, cakes, mini bar etc. pot of tea in the lounge on arrival was very welcome. Did not have an evening meal here so cannot comment on that but the breakfast was lovely and so nice to...

We recommend this establishment to anyone who likes straightforward food prepared and cooked to perfection. The property is clean and well maintained, the staff efficient and helpful. Mrs Sealy the friendly but unobtrusive owner and cook ,clearly works hard to make her guests stay a relaxing pleasure. We will be back!
