I booked this as a last minute bed and breakfast, afterwards we read some of the other reviews and began to worry-absolutely no need. This is one of the nicest, comfortable and friendly hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The room was large with a lovely clean and stylish en suite. The bed is comfortable and...

Looks quite inviting from the outside but lacks character inside. Ok for a afternoon drink but not a place I'd stay long. Didn't try the food but menu looks basic with the usual burgers and sandwiches.

This place is where you need to go when there is no Wetherspoons in a town! Wall to wall sky sports, loud music and doorman every night! To be fair the staff are nice and helpful but it really won't appeal to the real ale drinking, walking gear wearing tourists but there is always a place for pubs and hotels...

My husband and I popped in for a drink after a morning of walking and ended up staying all afternoon and having an early evening meal. I cannot comment therefore on the rooms however the wainwrights ale was very good and so was the food. I had the cottage pie served with broccoli, carrots and pickled cabbage. It was delicious...

We had stopped at Ambleside during a cruise .. Its a very picturesque village with beautiful tiny shops lining up on one side near the village centre. We stopped by after our walk for lunch. The pub had a nice interior , however the service level needs to be pulled up. Quality of food was average and the time taken...

Stayed for 2 nights, good price compared to elsewhere. Warm welcome at reception. Room was clean, comfortable mattress, good shower and plenty of tea/coffee available. We were on the 3rd floor so lots of stairs to negotiate so bear this in mind if you have any problems with mobility as there isn't a lift. Breakfast was good, the young guy...

We stopped off here and decided to get our lunch. The food was pricey but quite good. We each shared a platter. We were warned that it may take up to 45 minutes but the food arrived hot and ready to eat within five. The service was good even though they were busy due to showing live sport. It's worth...

We stayed here with hiking in Langdale in mind. Its 20 minutes by car or public bus to Old Dungeon Ghyll. The room itself was spacious, and the breakfast very good, English style. The Inn is in the center of town which is a lively spot and close to Windermere also. One proviso: when there is music in the bar,...
