The Dower House, run by Margaret, is a wonderful find. Margaret is an excellent hostess. The accommodation is very clean and well equipped. It's lovely to come back to the Dower House after a day's exploring the surrounding area to a lovely open fire and hot chocolate. The views from the property are probably the best in The Lake District....

It is situated away from the main road surrounded by a large estate on the grounds of Wray Castle, a NT property. It is not modern but very comfortable and spacious with a large lounge with TV and fire. The food was excellent. The evening meal is quite expensive but extremely good quality and worth the money. A very pleasant...

Located along the drive to the entrance of 'Wray Castle' a National Trust property. The builders of Wray castle used to live in this lovely property which is perfect if you want to stay out of a town, smack in the middle of walking country with stunning views over Lake Windemere. Lovely warm welcome from Margaret, cosy rooms that are...

One of those places you don't want to leave. I tried to go back the following month but they were fully booked. Hardly surprising for Margaret is the perfect hostess. Quaint, brilliant location, eye-watering views, Well tucked away from the tourist traps. Quiet walks from the doorstep and a ferry service 300 yards down below on the lakeside. What is...

Had a wonderful two night stay at the Dower House, hosted by the lovely Margaret. Charming rooms with gorgeous views out over Windermere. Booked dinner for the first night, and the homemade mushroom soup, lamb cutlets and meringue dessert was one of the tastiest meals I've had in months. And we had equally excellent breakfasts! Beautiful location tucked away next...

A small hotel but big on service and comfort. The proprietor is Margaret and she gives a very warm and personal welcome. The room with ensuite shower and wc was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Breakfast and dinner were a tower of home cooking and most enjoyable. Evenings were spent in front of an open log fire. All in all...

This B&B is hidden away just next to Wray Castle and is in a place of outstanding natural beauty and is only a short walk to the lakeside. The en suite room we stayed in was very clean, tastefully furnished and the bed was really comfy which is exactly what is required after a hard days shopping in the lakes...

We have been travelling in England and Scotland and staying at B&Bs for 2 weeks. They have all been very welcoming and comfortable but Dower House was exceptional thanks to the location and Margaret's hospitality. The location is stunning with beautiful views across a field to Lake Windermere. Being away from the main township provided a peaceful, relaxing and tranquil...

My husband and I stayed 5 nights at Dower House and enjoyed the peace and beauty of the location. We also had 4 delicious dinners and 5 breakfasts. Our room was spotless, comfortable and had an amazing view of Lake Windermere. If that wasn't enough, Margaret was most helpful in sorting out a problem with my lost handbag. The atmosphere...
