I suppose everyone has used a loo on a train. This is better ... cleaner loo, separate washing sink with a tap. End of. That's it. Proper camping for £5. Sat nav cos you'll never find it otherwise is Ambleside L.A. 22 9HF or N54 25.713 W003 00 468 5 stars

We introduced our son to camping on this site, and couldn't have chosen better. It's quiet, basic, beautiful, and we can't wait for our next stay there. Which is, in fact tomorrow! I think we will probably become regulars :)

So pleased I came across this campsite, so reasonably priced too. We stayed Friday night and left Saturday at 8.30pm, the owners are so friendly and helpful. Beautiful setting perfect for a lovely walk to grasmere or Ambleside, we did both and then went for a swim in loughrigg tarn which is right next door afterwards, it was awesome! No... More

A stunning location nestled between amazing mountain views and a picturesque tarn. Perfect start to many of the fantastic walks and only a 45 minute stroll into Grasmere. So beautiful you forget their isn't a shower and just jump in the tarn instead.

Superb campsite with perfect surroundings for our trip out of the city lights to view the Perseids. Friendly and well maintained. Really made us feel welcome and cant fault the path markings off the fells to get us back to camp in the early hours.

I stayed here when I was 14 during a duke of Edinburgh exped and returned when I was 23 and I was so pleased it hadn't changed. This is what true camping is about! Water tap, toilet, and rolling fields!!

Absolutely beautiful, the views are breathtaking, not in the middle of no where, with an easy walk or 5 minuet car drive into Ambleside. The owners are lovely, the toilets are extremely clean with no queue's!!!! (even when we went which was the start of July school holiday- peak time). The tarn which is only a 2 minuet walk from... I first found this campsite about 20+ years ago completely by accident and have been coming back several times a year, every year since, always with family or friends and never disappointed. Ok so its not a bowling green to pitch on and there was no showers but its cheap, friendly, peaceful and quiet, has its own private lake and... More
