For railway travellers this hotel couldn't be more convenient. Also, the information point is in the station. It's a wonderful example of what were once glorious Victorian hotels. No it's not 21st century smart but it has what some would call 'patina'. The faded glory is part of its charm. The rooms are perfectly good and clean; service excellent. We...

In a double room most hotels have a double bed not this one three quarter bed with one side against the wall. Our room was more suited for a single traveler. Since we booked two months in advance I would have thought we deserved better. The staff are pleasant enough but it is crumbling around the edges, book elsewhere and the parking costs...

I stayed for 3 nights at The Royal Hotel whilst visiting friends in Hull. Location wise, the hotel couldn't be more central and convenient for the city center. The room was small, but clean and comfortable and the reception and bar area were a nice place to hang out. I did not eat in the restaurant, but it always looked...

Historic hotel with character in the centre of Hull. As with many old hotels the decor was dated and tired. The beds and fittings in our room were of basic standard. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. The fried eggs were fresh and not dried out, the bacon was not greasy as were the sausages. The dinner,...

We were given a room next to the lift but as we were in a hurry to go out we overlooked the location and only realised when we came back much later how noisy the room was. The room was faded and tired and the whole hotel could do with a refurb. On a positive note as we were checking...

This is my hotel of choice when travelling on business to Hull. It is very convenient and I enjoy the atmosphere in the main lounge for a pre dinner drink. Waiting staff very approachable. The slight concern I have is the accommodation is looking a bit tired and not in keeping with previous visits. I had to ask to change...

Apparently Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stayed at this hotel in its better days - and its glory days are surely in the past. Most of the staff were charming and helpful although rather disorganised - perhaps there are just not enough of them. We were unable to access our room after two nights as our card had been cancelled...

Perfectly located next to the railway station, grand old hotel full of history and this more than made up for some areas looking a little tired! Room was lovely, spacious and with bath and shower. Loved the nespresso machine, fluffy dressing gowns and slippers! Staff really helpful, nothing too much trouble!

We booked ahead thinking that this was now a Mercure Hotel - of which we have had good experience. Shortly before we arrived it had been taken over by Britannia. They have not had time to fully convert to old folks bingo and snoozing as we have found with other Britannia hotels yet, so it was OK. Good size room,...

Great location in Hull. Beautiful building although a bit quaint. The bed was a bit squeaky. Good breakfast and very hospitable staff. There was too much noise and confusion in the lobby because of some private event going on in one off the rooms. That was unfortunate but I assume it just happened to be a one -off occurrence

Thank inesvs
