Had the most perfect stay. Great staff, amazing location. The view from the hotel window was of the cathedral. Watch out for the sloped floor in the restaurant! Staff were very friendly and breakfast was good. Only slight disappointment was that I had to pay extra for full english - but it was worth it!

We stayed at The Cathedral Gate Hotel with a group of friends. The staff could not have been more friendly and more helpful. Zac was especially helpful and friendly, checking us into our rooms and allowing us to use the bar and lounge area. He went out of his way to make sure that we were happy and had everything... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in October, 2016. We are history buffs, and thoroughly enjoyed staying in a hotel that has historical ambience next-door to Canterbury Cathedral. The rooms are well-maintained, breakfasts are very good, staff, especially Oliver, are friendly and helpful. A memorable stay.

A perfect place to be when visiting Canterbury. Nice & friendly staff, cosy and comfortable rooms in the towncentre. Delicious breakfast. Historical touch included. All important attractions are within walking distance. Great Shopping destination and some fine restaurants and bars for a night out nearby. We will definitely come back.

This place is more of a guest house than a hotel, it's decor is pretty basic but it has bags of character, the best thing about it is the location, right in the centre of the city ideally for visiting attractions/shopping. The rooms at the back have a view of the cathedral. We stayed in a twin room (sleepy hollow)... More

I went to stay with 4 friends for a birthday celebration. Hotel is OK, not state of the art but the building is very old and historical. Extremely hot inside. I accidentally left a bottle of expensive face cream (brand new) in the bathroom, but when I called and asked for it to be returned I was told it hadn't... More

Loved this place. It's full of charm, friendly staff and fab location. Shared bathroom facilities very clean and well appointed, shower pressure was a bit feeble but up three floors I kind of expected that! Lovely cosy room with stunning view of the cathedral. Digital thermostatic radiators and good tea /coffee facilities in the room, plus a first ever for... More

Another lovely stay in Cathedral Gate. I can't stress how much I enjoy staying here! This time was for graduation and my friend came with me, as my father and son couldn't make it. She enjoyed its 'quirkiness' too. This hotel has a great central location, lovely staff, terrific Continental breakfast, and comfortable beds. Cannot praise this hotel enough.

This hotel was just right for our family gathering. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. It is a cosy and unpretentious place, right in the beating heart of the old city and we could practically touch the cathedral from our little room, 'Joy'. If it's modern formulaic luxury you need, choose elsewhere...likewise if you have... More

I've stayed at the Canterbury before and it's a lovely hotel. Some rooms overlooking the square below or the Catherdral, what more could you ask for? Rooms have been redecorated and are lovely throughout the hotel. Very comfortable and clean, just want you need for an overnights stay. Our room was quite small, however, very nice and had all the...
