The original 15th-century character has been respected and enhanced in this beautiful accommodation. Choose between themed rooms in the main house or modern rooms in the Stable Annexe, each with an abundance of thoughtful extras. Guests enjoy the 24-hr honesty bar, cosy lounges and bright, airy conservatory. Delightfully helpful service, free parking, free Wi-Fi & large, sunny heritage garden add to the appeal of this historically significant property which is a short stroll from shops, restaurants, bars, the marvelous Marlowe Theatre, bus and railway stations. Equally the City's historical sites and river Stour are steps away. Kent & Christchurch Universities and the famous Kent Cricket ground are all within easy proximity.

I was in Canterbury on a business trip and stayed for one night in the 'Shanghai room'. Well, it was just lovely! On arrival, the member of staff on reception was really friendly and helpful. She showed me around and to my room. Super smiley! The room was beautifully decorated,

Booked following a cancellation by another hotel nearby. Weren't we lucky! At the House of Agnes, we found great attention to detail, with an accent on quality, and wanted for nothing. From large good quality towels to good breakfasts, with too many items to list in between.

Very enjoyable two night stay, we stayed in room 8 in the stables and it was very quiet apart from a few trains, the room was spacious with tea and coffee provided. Breakfast was included and was good, however there were limitations to this, day one the special had run out and

Thank you for your lovely review and I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay.with us. Indeed the Stable rooms are extremely popular and book up really quickly due to their location right next to the spacious, sunny garden. A quiet oasis in spite of being in the City Centre! I'm sorry that you were disappointed that there was only one pastry left at breakfast on the 2nd day of your stay. We bake our pastries fresh every morning and although we piled the basket twice it seemed that they were far more popular than usual. Due to being freshly baked we were unable to provide more without making you wait another 20 minutes for them to come out of the oven. In addition to our hot breakfast menu we offer a 'Special of the Day' which varies depending on availablilty. It might be Eggs Benedict or Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs or our puffy Cheddar and Chive Omelette. We cannot guarantee which one will be available but you will always be offered one of the above. I'm sorry that your didn't get your first choice but hope you enjoyed it anyway!

We stayed in a Stable room, which while compact, was very well appointed. Bed was very comfortable and the linen of good quality, the shower room efficient, plenty of hot water, good quality towels. It was a very cold night, but the room was warm and cosy. Excellent location for

The Cottage is not air conditioned.... British B&B's rarely are! You might like to check the link on my website called DISCOVER MORE ABOUT US On that link there is a PDF that shows you which rooms have tubs, where the room is located, whether they have fans or A/C. All our rooms have either fans or a/c dependent on the location.

Hello, The House of Agnes is ideally located in the City Center therefore some noise is inevitable. The trains are very unobtrusive (they're electric) but if you are a light sleeper then it's possible that you may be bothered by the seagulls, pigeons and various city noises. The Cottage room is garden facing and generally quiet but it depends on what we are comparing it to. I find that 'quietness' is relative to ones own home environment. I'm sorry I cant be more specific but I hope you will be encouraged by the fact that less that one in 2,000 of our guests ever mention a problem with noise. Kind regards, Sandie
