We were spending a couple of nights in Winchester to visit the Christmas Market and explore the town centre and it was important to find somewhere central where our car could be safely parked whilst we walked into town. Giffard House ticked all the boxes being just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Winchester but also close to... More

The hotel was a grand Edwardian building with décor reflecting both those times and of the colonies. Walking distance/time to the centre of this historic city was only 10 minutes. The staff of the hotel were all extremely friendly and helpful and our room situated on the ground floor at the front of the hotel was both comfortable and impressive... More

When looking for somewhere different to say, I came across Giffard House. I hate the normal run-of-the-mill hotels that could be anywhere on the planet. Gifford House offers splendid sophistication with tasteful decorations and beautiful bedrooms. The place is spotless and the welcome most friendly. Peter is knowledgeable about the property and the area as well as the local attractions... More

I booked 4 single rooms (I know the smallest) but the picture on the website looked like the rooms were decent. They ended up being closet sized rooms. Not even a place to put your suitcase. I'm 5'10 and the single bed had a foot board and I couldn't lay down with my legs fully extended. Amenities were nice...coffee/tea in... More

Thank you for your review, I find it hard to understand why a 5ft 10in tall person is not able to fully stretch out in a mattress length of 6ft 3in bearing in mind both the foot and head boards are added to this length and the mattress sits clear in between. Also for luggage the Victorian style iron bedsteads... More

We stayed at Giffard house for a weekend to explore Winchester and visit my grandmother who lives near Romsey. It was perfect. After looking at the website we booked up but felt we may be about to stay at faulty towers however we were very mistaken, we arrived to be greeted by a lovely friendly lady who showed us up... Gifford House is about a 15-minute walk to Winchester cathedral, the main shops and wide variety of restaurants. We stayed in room 3 on the first floor. Although the two en-suite bathrooms were perhaps a little superfluous for a room in a B&B, we would choose the room again given its spaciousness and very comfortable king bed. It was very... More

Facility This is a really nice house in a quiet location about a ten minute walk to the center of Winchester. Parking is very convenient with plenty of room to get in and out. Kleenex, tea fixings and water is provided along with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, wash clothes, soap. The brand is Molton Brown which is an upscale brand that... More

Giffard House, unquestionably deserves top ratings and all other accolades. This beautifully (restored) 19th century Victoria mansion, in a peaceful setting, is a lovely place to stay, close to Winchester City amenities. Management and staff go way beyond the call of duty to ensure guests are comfortable and want for nothing. Despite arriving early, I was warmly welcomed and even... More

This really is a bit more than a B&B . Very comfortable, very friendly establishment within easy walking distance of the city centre. Good breakfast. Very nice clean bedrooms. Highly recommend it when staying in Winchester.

One night stay for our daughter's graduation at Winchester Cathedral, great location within walking distance. Lovely, clean, bright rooms, beautifully decorated with everything you need. Lovely breakfast and would certainly stay again and/or recommend to others
