My partner and I have just come back from a 2 night stay here ,and we had a lovely time. Upon arrival we were actually told we had overpaid due to a backpackers discount we weren't aware of when booking online, so that was a nice surprise! The lady on reception (I think they were the manager) explained where we...

Went with friends for a bank holiday camping trip, and was happy with the site and it's facilities. There were wild horses everywhere and the very occasional deer so was very beautiful and picturesque no one was loud and everyone was friendly will return again.

We have been coming to this campsite for years and have love it everytime we come. There was a time a few years back when the staff were awful and didn't care about the place or the siteam and it's rules, but that soon changed the following year for the better. The staff there now are very friendly, they implement...

Been coming here for 15 plus years, came when the kids were young now we still come atleast twice a year and they do the odd visits. The toilets are all kept spotless. The staff are friendly and keep it running smoothly, its very much kept as a family site so not the place to come for a rave! We...

Facilities spotlessly clean. Staff brilliantly helpful. Pitches for every type of camper. Near lots of amenities. 5 mins from train station. Lots of eateries close by. Dog free and not loads of kids so peaceful and relaxing. Will come again and again.

Decided to get away for 1 night and camping seemed the perfect idea. Chose Ashurst as it was close and still part of the New Forest. Lovely area, staff friendly when arrived and loved seeing the horses/ponies wandering around the campsite. Some cycle routes around the area but would of been nice if there was a map to guide us...

This is very much a family campsite. Lots of children running around and having fun which is brilliant if this is what you want from the campsite but less so for couples/groups without children. There is a curfew at the camp but it seems rules regarding this are sporadically adhered to as many were still up and chatting after this....

We are new to camping and we have no comparison but our 3 experiences of this campsite throughout the last 2 months or so have always been positive. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The rules make taking kids easier because it stops others making a lot of noise late into the night and it keeps the horses safe...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perfect for seasoned or novice campers, this beautiful campsite is set in a woodland glade, surrounded by the majesty of ancient oak trees. Set on the edge of a small area of woodland known as Ashurst Wood, the wood opens up onto Matley Heath, an expanse of New Forest heathland criss-crossed with tracks ideal for walking or cycling. With countless direct routes into the unique New Forest environment via cycle and footpaths, this is a perfect base for exploring local flora and fauna. From the sanctuary of your tent you may be lucky enough to spot deer during quieter times and see the famous New Forest and Shetland ponies roaming freely. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed, however guide dogs are. There is also no electricity, however, there are toilets, a refurbished shower block and a launderette. ... more   less
