Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed on the caravan site behind the pub which was beautifully kept with electric hook up at all 11 pitches. We ate in the pub every evening and the food was excellent every time. My husband is coeliac and the staff were very knowledgeable about what he could eat and the chef very accommodating about altering the dish to ensure it was gluten free.
The staff were all amazing, work very hard and are professional and efficient but at the same time being very friendly. We couldn’t fault anything and I’m sure we will be returning.

1 night stay to start walking the Thames Path. Great reception from the family team, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were great - well furnished, with individual wifi and neat little touches like an umbrella by the door. Rooms are in a barn conversion with a nice little courtyard to sit in. Everything very Covid safe.

Breakfast was excellent - local ingredients and a choice of menus. See separate review for evening meal, which was equally good.

Thames Head is 15 minute's walk away. All in all this was a brilliant stay.

We booked a table for 13 with plenty of notice and The Thames Head staff thought ahead to seat us inside due to the bad weather and as the covid rules were changing, they were flexible over the phone to accommodate.

We pre-ordered and all the food came out hot and on time with many different plates, great food from Roast Dinners to Traditional favourites like Ham, Egg and Chips and Steak, Kidney and Ale pie, Sausage and mash and all the portions are great sizes including the desserts.
The service was great and we had a room pretty much to ourselves with plenty of space, Would highly recommend, especially for large gatherings.

A little marquee is up for when it’s chilly, tables are well spaced out, staff adhering to covid rules. Felt totally safe at all times. The food is fantastic, Can’t fault anything. Highly recommended.

We eat here after booking at the pubs on site camping area. Friendly staff and a lovely warm meal with a good choice to choose from . Slightly expensive wine at £8.50 per glass and the Eaton mess was lacking any cream. Overall average for food but the campsite was pleasant .

Paul is a wonderful host, so attentive and friendly. His staff were equally friendly and welcoming. We had the lamb pie on the special board. A taste sensation!!!
We stayed in the camping area at the rear of the pub , 11 pitches in all and all electric hook up. The shower and toilet are available all night. Basic but functional. Would highly recommend for a short stop over to explore Cirencester and definitely treat yourselves to some great food.

We have just returned from an excellent weekend stay, it was the best. Our room was exceptionally clean, comfortable, cosy and was very peaceful and quiet at night, a good night's sleep. All the food was excellent can strongly recommend the bubble and squeak and steaks all perfectly cooked to order. Staff were really friendly, chatty and very knowledgeable about the pubs offering of beers and gins . Will definitely be returning.

We have been to this pub around 8 times over the last year, when we have been staying locally.
On Friday we had ham, egg and chips, service was lightning fast, chips were awesome, they’ve improved them. Staff were friendly.
Today it was a toss up between Sunday lunch or the bubble and squeak, I asked the gentleman behind the bar what his favourite meal was and he recommended the bubble and squeak.
Wow! It was gorgeous, a big plate of food which was so tasty and the mustard sauce lifted it up.
Even though I was stuffed I asked the gentleman what I should choose for pudding and he recommended the Eton mess, wow again. My husband had an ice cream sundae.
This pub serves gorgeous food, service was quick and the staff super friendly.
We will be back again in a few months.
