The house is beautiful, lots of spaces to sit and read in the common areas including a breathtaking mature garden, so peaceful. Room was simply and tastefully furnished, airy and clean. Our host was warm friendly and very helpful with suggestions where to eat out, walk, things to see. Breakfast well cooked and served in a sun filled dining room... More

Was Dotheboys Hall written here? Very possibly. One night was one too many. Gloomy, cold, damp and that was inside. I can't imagine why they bother to let rooms and then make no attempt to make guests welcome. Go somewhere else.

The local tourist office in Rye located this place for me, as the last available room in the town on a busy Saturday and subsequent experience proved why! I thoroughly endorse FS' review of this place which, had I been able to see the reviews beforehand, I would not have stayed at. I was shown to my room at the... More

The owner needs to retire, as she is too highly strung to run her own hotel, and is not suitable for this sort of business. If you are a tourist and wish to visit Rye and need to stay here for the first time, one would have a really bad opinion of places to stay in East Sussex. We booked... More

A lovely old house, with a beautiful garden. The landlady is very friendly and the service at breakfast was traditionally quirky. We had an en suite room, although I believe some have desperate bathrooms. If you like sterile, formulaic hotel chains, don't stay here. If you want a well placed hotel in Rye, with oodles of character, this is the... More

My wife and I arrived on a cold and very wet day. First impressions of the building was that it looked a bit dark. Once inside though, we were greeted with warmth by the owner, who soon saw to our needs. The room that she gave us was quite large, as was its bathroom. Furnishings and decor are slightly old... Someone else said Marmite and that's a good way to put it. This is a fabulous old house with huge amounts of character, including a snooker room complete with full size snooker table in mint condition. I have stayed here many times for trips down to play golf and it has always suited us perfectly. As ever it really is... More

I had booked the accommodation again for a family reunion, but only after having been taken in by the picture of the room as shown on the web page. "Thank God, they have renovated the place." The picture was utterly misleading and everything was just as it had been some 9 years ago. The place needs not just to be... More

We decided to go to Rye for the bank holiday weekend & didn't book before we went. Big mistake! The tourist information office told us that every guesthouse, B & B & hotel was booked except for Tower House. After arriving at Tower House it was plain to see why the guest house was empty. As soon as we stepped... More

I have stayed in Rye many times, but I was not prepared for what I experienced on staying at this £90 a night guest house. Externally I was in awe of the amazing house and gardens but unfortunately the inside of the guest house house did not live up to my expectations. Example being months worth of dust that had...
