We just wanted a bar type meal and the Ship Inn provided exactly what we were looking for. My burger was excellent, best I've had for a while, and the accompanying fries were also very good. My wife had the fish cakes which she said...More
Do not have the vegetable Wellington......it wouldn't even fill a mouse! Several people complained about the lack of food on the plate. Overpriced and I left feeling hungry. Wine is lovely but pricey!! Staff are great but don't bother the food, it's a rip off!!

The Ship is in central Rye, at the bottom of Mermaid Street. Built in 1592, it was originally a warehouse to store contraband seized from smugglers. It is now a characterful pub, with beams, wooden floors & log fires. Open from eleven every day for freshly prepared food, local fish, Bloody Marys, real ales & organic cider. 10 comfy modern rooms (four of which are dog-friendly) - all with en-suite bath or shower. Children, dogs are especially welcome.
