Thank you for your review. We will share your praise for the unique Mermaid Inn, for the building, service and the food, with all the staff concerned. Rye is a wonderful example of a medieval citadel, a church dating from the 1100s, and The Mermaid herself rebuilt in 1420, and with cellars dating from 1156. We look forward to welcoming...

The Mermaid, an old smugglers'inn, is situated on one of the prettiest streets in the UK. Our room was small but the bed was comfortable. The walls dividing bedrooms were thin and all “activities” could be heard from next door and above! I had to go and buy some earplugs to make sure I could have a good night sleep...

Thank you for your review. The Mermaid, rebuilt in 1420, is a truly unique place. It is a Grade II Listed building, of mainly wattle and daub construction. It has 600 years of history to discover, whether it be the Hawkhurst gang, Wiliam Shakespeare or the odd ghost. All of which can be seen on our website, with all 31...

We enjoyed lunch in the restaurant of this historic pub and hotel. Lovely surroundings. excellent service. Food was delicious and well-presented. Gluten-free diners catered for. I would recommend the fish dishes.

We have been here many times over the years and recently had a meal in the restaurant for our anniversary. Always a delight to come here - and the restaurant feels like you are in an old building with London service, but not quite London prices but it's not cheap either. £125 for the 2 of us, but then we...

The Mermaid is famous, deservedly so. Visitors, many from abroad, who come here relish the cosy rooms, the oak beams the nooks and crannies. It is everything it should be, smuggler-wise. The restaurant food is pricey but excellent. The staff are young and always helpful. However, I wonder if there's a danger that the Mermaid takes its historic appeal for...

We were welcomed with open arms despite having 4cheeky loud children in tow. We asked to eat in the restaurant and we're treated so well. Professional waiting staff, lovely food, beautiful surroundings. The staff cared for everything so well and took an interest in the children. Highly recommend.

A wonderful romatic hotel with old world charm, friendly service, and good food. We very much enjoyed our stay and found the reception staff very friendly and supportive. We arrived early, but were allowed to leave our car in the car park. Our room was wonderfully romantic and overlooked Mermaid Street. If a shower is prefered it would, perhaps, be...

We had spent a good weekend in Eastbourne and decided to stop in Rye with its old port is delightful! The Mermaid Inn in Mermaid Street is the the stuff of dreams, black and white films and the haunt of the Hawkhurst smugglers. Who live on with Dr Syn a fictional character based in Rye.

The Mermaid is located on one of Rye's cobbled streets and is an amazing old building. Our room took a few flights of stairs to get to but was worth the effort, with the old beams and view down the street. Parking is on-site and there is a good bar and restaurant (we only had breakfast which was good). Only...
