Should be a beautiful place, but very tired and shabby. Needs a complete makeover. Why do the owners not do something with this place. Lewes is a beautiful town and this hotel right bang in the middle of the High Street. How can they leave this building like this. Shame.

My 3 friends and I booked a spa day with afternoon tea via Groupon - we weren't expecting much, given the price we paid, but I can honestly say none of us expected the experience to be even half as bad as it was. In retrospect we wouldn't have gone there even if we'd been paid. The hotel itself is...

Stayed one night at the White Hart using the groupon deal which was great value for money. Stayed in a sizeable room with very nice old fashioned decor in line with the rest of the hotel. Three course dinner was delicious with huge portions and the same can be said for the breakfast which had both continental and cooked options....

We decided with our friends that we would visit the hotel as they had a New Years Eve Gala dinner and offered a two night break. Our friends had visited the hotel before. On arrival it was like stepping back in time, lovely hotel, but in need of some tlc. Our room was on the first floor, nice and spacious,...

We spent a night's B&B in this historic old hotel. On the plus side were the well-decorated dining room and cosy bar together with a small swimming pool for guests and paying visitors. On the minus side was the very shabby decor (Thomas Paine, who used to meet in the hotel with his Headstrong Club in the last 18th century,...

Stayed here one night on business. Front area of hotel loads of character. Room clean and presentable, good location and limited parking available. Didn't use spa or pool. Areas of building looking sad and in need of tlc. Menu ok for bar food but too good for the restaurant ,would have been very disappointed had I booked a table, but...

Thank you very much for the review. with the dinner menu I am working hard with the new head chef to come up with a delicious menu for 2017 so please do come back soon. I will speak to the sous chef about the sauces and see what we can do to improve on as peppercorns is a key factor...

This review isn't about food or the hotel's accommodation facilities as my visit with a friend was just for a drink one Saturday evening. Drinks and service at the bar were fine but the toilets, oh my goodness. Dirty threadbare carpets on the stairway. The toilets were both filthy, neither of us wanted to use them. Decor on walls doors...

I can only apologise about the facilities of the hotel toilets. we have a cleaning system in place at the hotel for the toilets to be checked every two hours. I will be speaking to my team why this was not checked. I have now taken over from the previous General Manager I am working with the owners to start...

Thank you so much for lovely review. I will also pass on to the housekeeping manager about double checks of the rooms before check in. with breakfast I have now changed the system from buffet to cooked to order that way you get a very hot breakfast every time. I can also reassure you none of our meals are microwaved...

Visited the White Hart last Saturday, with the high expectation of a light lunch. Wonderful old building, but we wondered if we had walked into a time warp as there was no one around in the main front lounge bar. Eventually approached a receptionist and asked if they were doing food, and was told to go to the front bar....

We went to the white hart for a light lunch, four adults, my 6 month old twins and my 18 month niece. Firstly access into the hotel with a double buggy wasn't easy, nobody even tried to help us in, we all took it in turns to try and open the second door to make the access bigger. Eventually got...
