This is the second time we stayed here this year and when I reviewed it previously I said it would be a great place to stay...if some small improvements were made. Unfortunately they weren't! The rooms were a great size but really not very clean, with a rather large cobweb in the bathroom. There was one tiny bin in the... More

I know it only cost £35 a night but even for that price I do expect some servicing of the room. In it's favour apart from the price, my room was spacious with a bedroom, bathroom and separate sitting room. The bed was comfortable and there are tea and coffee making facilities provided. One downside was the proximity of the... More

My family and I recently attended a wedding at Sherborne Abbey and as it was such a lovely sunny day, we thought we'd call in for a few drinks before the reception. I ordered and paid for several drinks but as soon as I picked up my pint of 6x, it was obvious the barrel 'had gone'. I told the... More

This place should have everything going for it - excellent position opposite the Abbey and a very photogenic building - both are wasted. Inside its a bit of a spit and sawdust decor, nothing wrong with that if it's clean and the food is good. Basically the bar is run down. The service was friendly but you did feel an... More

We arrived at the Plume of Feathers not quite sure where to park but guessed correctly and drove into the Half Moon car park. The Plume has several spaces on right reserved for their customers and the lady behind the bar phoned our number plate through to the Half Moon to let them know. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our... More

Unfortunately a high rate with little to offer. While room was large, could not help but feel that the bathroom and carpets were not clean.... Breakfast had to be taken in another hotel next door.... overall not a great stay. Wifi does not work in the room although advertised.

After spending four days on Cornwall, my husband and me decided to stop for lunch on our way home back to Wiltshire. Friendly warm reception on entering. After seated and ordering our choices at the bar. Beef Burgers Chips ( which cost extra) and salad x2. The chips were the cheap frozen variety and tasteless. The beef burger bun was... More

Very disappointing for such a lovely traditional pub. This pub could have so much more potential for food with it's position being opposite the Sherborne Abbey. From past reviews I can tell that others have had bad experiences here with food. The menu being very basic and limited and if I was the boss I would certainly employ a chef... More

Me and my mum pauline often stopped off at the Plume of feathers whilst returning from our weekly shop in the beautiful market town of Sherborne. We stopped by a week ago and ordered two hunters chicken meals which were not to the standard they were the chicken was cut up along with the bacon and was very dry. The... More

Ate here on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. Barman was friendly enough. Menu was pretty basic and inexpensive but I liked the sound of the beer-battered fish. Kids menu as basic as it gets - fish fingers or sausages and chips. That's all fine but then the condiments came - ketchup bottle was sticky and heavily congealed, the vinegar had enough... More
