We stumbled across this B and B by chance through an internet search, the pictures looked great on the internet, but we were still cautious as we've been disappointed in the past when expectations have been raised by pictures..I must say we are fussy! However on this occasion the pictures were a true and accurate reflection of a wonderful B and...

...........................this is definitely not your usual B&B! When coming home to Torquay on visits from the USA, I've often been disappointed with B&B accommodation.......some being absolutely awful! This time around, perfection was found at Merlewood House. The warm welcome extended by owner Wendy continued each day of our stay, nothing was too much trouble for her..........and we now have a...

My wife and I decided to stay at Merlewood House for 7 nights having read the various outstanding testimonials on TripAdvisor. We are very pleased we did. The comments accompanying the many 5 star ratings before this one explain why. The location, the elegant house itself, the many unusual fixtures and fittings, and our spacious room were what would normally...

This B&B has been furnished beautifully and our room was finished to a high standard giving it a boutique hotel feeling. The en suite bathroom was large. We had a lovely couple of nights here and walking to the city centre was easy. Plenty of pubs and restaurants are within walking distance. I stayed here for a conference in the...

I ran a training week for the team at Merlewood house in Feb. The perfect mix of functionality and style made for a week that really has set the tone for the team.

Superb B&B very quiet yet close to town centre Wendy is marvelous host with great advice about the local area. We were shown 3 rooms, all different themes; the furnishings are fabulous, plenty of fresh flower and little extras, will certainly return and recommend to others

Merlewood House is an ideal location with the hustle & bustle of the town centre just 5 mins walk away. The house is beautifully maintained (all credit to Wendy for the hard work) & the rooms are luxurious & spacious. On arrival (late as always!) we were warmly welcomed & given a choice of two rooms, both equally suitable. Wendy...

My partner booked this as a weekend break. We had a comfortable stay in a nice size room overlooking the garden. Our en suite shower room was very small and the shower was not very powerful but it was clean and bright. The room was also not very warm as it is not double glazed. Breakfast was fine and cooked well...

I had booked a triple room for 3 nights at the Merlewood House for 3 adults in Nov 2008. However when we arrived, Wendy graciously offered us an extra room for the 3rd person at a very attractive reduced price, which we gladly took on. We found the rooms spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with beds as comfortable as in...
