Travellers' Choice
The Hotel Balmoral - set in a the most exclusive and picturesque location of Meadfoot in Torquay, only two minutes walk (150 meters) takes you to the blue flag awarded meadfoot beach overlooking the best coastal scenery on the English Riviera. Return back to elegantly furnished and decorated public rooms giving the hotel a restful, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere with a touch of class, which is matched by the unpretentious warm hospitality provided. Dining in the restaurant really is an occasion not to be missed! superb fine dining in the evening with Italian, French and English inspired dishes, the menu changes daily using only the freshest produce while being reasonably priced. Book a five course meal from £23.95 or Sunday lunch off peak from £15.95 per person for a three course lunch. Weather dependant our terrace is also open for breakfast and dining with sea views. Enjoy an aperitif from our classically styled licensed bar, or freshly baked warm scones and dollops of clotted cream in the secluded landscaped garden. Take in the superb view out to sea with thatcher rock in the distance. Each room is varied in style, location & facilities some large with super-king beds & sea views, some compact doubles over the side and back. Live music is provided out of season at the weekends, as well as free parking, space is limited but there is parking right outside too with no restrictions. We have an arrangement with the health club opposite so guests can use the indoor heated swimming pool, large gym and sauna for only £5 per person per day pass. A quiet and peaceful location does not mean remote, walk from our door to Torquay town harbour in less than 20 minutes, or leave the car and take the bus which has a stop right outside the building. Or for the scenic route, the hotel sits right on the coastal walking path to the town.

We were NOT able to enjoy a Christmas break at The Hotel Balmoral in November/December 2020 due to our region being "locked-down" in Tier 3. The Balmoral Hotel management proved ultimately to be totally unsympathetic...did not respond to our emails and when we phoned to enquire as to whether they would postpone our booking they immediately cancelled that booking via email. Some months later we have yet to receive a refund of our deposit monies. ...although the CMA claim that we are entitled to one!. We would never consider this hotel for any future holidays in Torquay.

This hotel is ok. The restaurant prepares and serves nice meals which are well presented. The staff in general are nice friendly people. Bedroom 26 isn’t the nicest. It’s on the ground floor (which may suit some people),and doesn’t have a view, except of the car parked in front of your window. It’s not a bad room. Just no view. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and the location is handy, with a bus stop just outside the entrance. My tip would be to check in before the choice of room is limited to what’s left. Or to get the room number confirmed before booking.

We went on a package weekend £120 each for 2 nights. This included breakfasts, dinners, entertainment and Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly, the hotel was spotlessly clean, the food amazing! Well worth it, we would definitely go again. It’s also in an ideal location for visiting other lovely places, like Dartmouth.

Have just come back from a wonderful weekend in this lovely hotel. From the minute of arrival the staff were very attentive. Rooms were very clean and cosy. Evening entertainment very good. Food was excellent at every meal. Very good value and would highly recommend this hotel which is only a short walk from a small beach and not far to walk into Torquay. Well done.
