Just had two nights here in room 317. First of all I bear in mind it's an old building and that comes with its own idiosyncrasies and charm. Our room appeared to have been decorated but the bed was one in which if one of you moved it created a ripple effect for the other. Having said that I slept...

In it's heyday this must have been the place to be.. but it is very much in need of investment. Bar and dining room aside, corridors, lifts and bedrooms are old, dull and dreary. My room had no aircon or fan and was too hot. The window opened a little but it was dirty and poorly maintained. Bathroom was fine...

Lovely from the outside but as I write this is the bar on my own in virtual darkness at 11.15pm I realise not only is the room 20 years out of date so is the hotel. Lovely ladies from Eastern Europe as staff but to shut the bar to a resident without asking at 10.45pm because no one was staying...

Chose this hotel as wanted to stay in a hotel with character rather than a soulless chain brand. Arrived at 3.30pm and found a space in the car park, yes its small as mentioned in other reviews, walk way from car park into back entrance of hotel, buzz to be let in. Check in straight forward and our room 103...

Looks impressive from outside and I expected the same inside, however, I was not too impressed. Firstly at check in, I was informed that I was a day late, and as I was only there for one night only, the staff didn't seem impressed, however, when I informed them that I had changed he date and had received email confirmation,...

We held my son's wedding here this weekend. A large number of the wedding party stayed for the whole weekend. During the whole time there was not a single thing that wasn't perfect. The staff were friendly.professional and helpfully in every way. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel looked incredible with every detail perfect. I honestly don't believe the...

What a fantastic stay, we stayed in a twin room for 2 nights and I couldn't fault anything, the staff were polite and helpful. Morning breakfast was delicious and what a selection available. We had a front room facing the pavilions but it was very quiet and not much noise. The room was warm and spacious.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Room was great value for money and really clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly. We went to see Elbow at the Pavillions which is just across the road. We even got to watch the band arrive!

I love these old hotels with a sort of faded, lost Empire glory about them. Earnest Shackleton stayed there 100 years ago which was when they last updated the electrics. When did you last see a mini 3-pin round socket on the wall (see photo). And a Trimphone! These items fetch a lot of retro money on ebay, I wonder...
