The hotel is a pub/hotel set in the lower part of the village. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room I had was noisy as next to the fire door for a number of rooms. The water in the shower was a good temperature but had no pressure. Furniture and decor is standard. The breakfast was continental although was...

Dear oh dear where to begin. The room was the worst I have stayed in EVER and I have travelled all over the world. The stink of damp hit you as soon as you walked in, the wallpaper was coming away from the wall, none of the old and tired furniture matched, the tiny, A4 paper sized TV was fixed...

Stayed here with my daughters recently. When we arrived we could not find a reception so went up to the bar to check in. Staff were very friendly and we got our keys. The room itself was very clean but quite tired. Mismatched old furniture and wallpaper peeling off. Beautiful four poster bed and window seats were a great plus...

Ate in The Crown twice. Both meals were tasty, huge portions and good vale all served with a smile. Proper pub food, good selection of beers on tap. A roaring fire, dog friendly and some interesting wall art! Lovely village local.

Stayed overnight at short notice, booked via an agent. Arrived late but were welcomed and fed although the restaurant had just closed. I had requested a room change by phone earlier (my mistake in booking). The message hadn't been picked up (my only slight crticism), none the less we were offered the change the moment I mentioned it and given...

Chose venue as we were meeting up with another couple also driving 3 hrs to meet us. Only downside is we called in at 2.20 on a very wet and cold day, and was told by the barman 'Check-in is 3.30', so we wandered to another pub to pass the time, a more friendly reception would have been appreciated. However...

Lovely friendly pub, good atmosphere, nice tasty pub food, reasonably priced. Recommend the burger, it's really good. Nice range of beers. Very interesting paintings / caricatures on the walls, inside and out, done by a local artist.

A St Austell pub, with hotel rooms upstairs, serving excellent beer, Proper Job was exactly that! An appealing menu with some special dishes made using local produce made us return again the following evening tempted by offerings such as Exeter stew with dumplings, Exmoor pie and a list of home made soups. Very good home cooked food at reasonable prices....

Called in for a drink in the afternoon and had a nice real ale pint, very interesting paintings on the walls both inside and out, done by a local man but with a tragic story attached (ask tristan for the details). We decided to return for our evening meal, which was fine, reasonably priced and good quality, my burger was...
