We stayed in the four poster room, which by most hotel standards was huge and very comfortable. The hotel was a mix of old fashioned comfort and exceptional service .It beats the modern clinical hotels hands down, and the staff make all the difference. Nothing was too much trouble. Yes you do have to drive through an industrial area for... More

We decided as we were traveling from London to Exeter for a birthday party in the Gipsy Hill Hotel that we would make a long weekend of it and book 3 nights there . So glad we did - what a friendly welcome- food really good, and we ( five of us) were generally well looked after. The party on... More

We recently stayed for one night on our way to Cornwall, the hotel is within easy reach of the M5. We stayed in the Coach House which was warm and welcoming and had everything we needed for an overnight stay (pity there was a terrible smell of cigarette smoke in the building) As previous reviewers have said the surroundings are... This really is the most dreary dreadful clapped out uncared for place. Firstly the hotel is on the edge of a large commercial vehicle car park. The accommodation is in two 1960s blocks on either side. When I arrived there were a bunch of drunks form a party giving each other alcohol sodden advice outside the main entrance. My 'room'... Stayed with my partner for a cheeky night away right on our doorstep , arrived in the pouring rain to a welcoming hello and hassle free check . Didn't have any expectations due to paying a bargain price (cheapest hotel on booing.com in area even though privetly owned ) but on entering our room we were pleasantly surprised, warm, clean... We stayed on Saturday 19th November and dined in the hotel in a private room for a family birthday. The food was fantastic, and plenty of it. The staff couldn't be more helpful - they were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. Even with a wedding going on on the premises the same day, this did not impact on... More

Held a surprise birthday party for my wife here on Saturday (19th November). Throghout the planning and organization, (which started in September) the Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficent, suggesting and organizing table layout, menus drinks etc. On the day the layout had to be changed at very short notice to accomodate a video projection setup. Sue and Grace... More
