Love this hotel. The room was amazing. Great decor. Stunning view. Excellent weekend getaway. I could live there. The breakfast was plentiful and included. The staff was extremely helpful in providing day trip advice and booking cars to take us to restaurants at night on the narrow dark roads.

We stayed several times in this hotel many years ago but gave up when standards dropped and we moved on to the Tresanton. However we heard that a new owner had spent a fortune and totally transformed the Idle Rocks we thought we would give it another go! Wow we were not disappointed it is truly stunning. Completely refurbished with...

We stayed here for a weekend break for a birthday treat. Loved the decor throughout the hotel and the atmosphere was fantastic. The location is stunning and the hotel makes the most of this vista. There are plenty of walks and beaches to explore nearby , as well as picture postcard villages and a variety of boat trips to choose...

A stylish hotel offering exceptional service. We visited the weekend before Christmas for 2 night break. The hotel was quiet which was fab for us as we were upgraded too. Without exception the staff were polite, helpful, courteous and responsive. The room we stayed in was spacious, beautifully decorated, very comfy bed (firm but not too hard), really lovely toiletries...

We'd originally booked to stay in the nearby but cheaper St Mawes hotel which has the same owners but due to low occupancy we were transferred to the Idle Rocks for our 2 night stay. We were on honeymoon and this was perfect. Lovely decor in the lounge and restaurant areas and the open fire is very pleasant to lounge...

Knowing St. Mawes quite well from previous visits, we booked two nights here out of season. It was everything we had hoped, and more - very relaxing! A very warm welcome, reserved parking just over the road set aside from the public car park and a chilling glass of wine overlooking the harbour set the tone from the start. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Idle Rocks has the most enviable location in St Mawes, overlooking the harbour with views across the River Fal to Falmouth. Our 19 bedrooms, most with stunning vistas over the bay, have been thoughtfully designed, each having their own unique identity with fabulous fabrics and decor that leave you in no doubt that you are by the sea. After a long day lazing on the beach, our south facing terrace is the perfect place to relax, have a long drink, and watch the world go by. You may even see your dinner being landed on the harbourside. The Idle Rock's restaurant, run by our head chef, Guy Owen, is a celebration of Cornwall; showcasing a range of fabulous produce that has been sourced locally using only seasonal fresh ingredients. In many cases it will have been swimming right on our doorstep only a few hours earlier and while the food is of the very highest standard our setting is very relaxed. ... more   less
