My wife bought me a stay over at The Idle Rocks. We decided to park in Falmouth and take the ferry to St Mawes. We had a great time. The staff were amazing. Friendly, attentive and very efficient. Room was stunning, an upgrade for my birthday. Beautifully designed and functionally clever. Dinner was sumptuous. I had the bubble and squeak...

Just got home after spending the last 2 nights at The Idle Rocks on their promotional New Years Eve package. From the moment of our arrival the whole experience was as near perfect as makes no difference, we were welcomed in and our luggage and car handled for us while we were offered tea in the lounge. After tea we...

Well modernised with interesting marine artwork. Good lounges & restaurant & bar. Several staff were Eastern European who were willing & hardworking but didn't seem totally conversant with English language & got muddled at times.

My husband booked us 2 nights with our 5 month old daughter for my 30th birthday. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The room was gorgeous, we had one with French doors overlooking the harbour with the most amazing view. We'd asked for a cot aswell which was beautifully made up with crisp white linen and...

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are really well decorated and warm with comfortable beds. Food in the restaurant very good and staff keen to please. The only negative, which nearly all hotels suffer from is no decent light for make up.

We had a romantic gateway in Cornwall and Idle Rocks was the perfect choice! The hotel is welcoming, cosy and beautifully decorated. We were greeted outside and the car parked for us. Perched just above the rocks of St Mawes harbour the hotel offers guests the best location in St Mawes without a doubt. We stayed in one of the harbour rooms, which is in a small annex to the main building. All of the rooms apparently have a sea/harbour view. The room was luxuriously decorated. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Idle Rocks has the most enviable location in St Mawes, overlooking the harbour with views across the River Fal to Falmouth. Our 19 bedrooms, most with stunning vistas over the bay, have been thoughtfully designed, each having their own unique identity with fabulous fabrics and decor that leave you in no doubt that you are by the sea. After a long day lazing on the beach, our south facing terrace is the perfect place to relax, have a long drink, and watch the world go by. You may even see your dinner being landed on the harbourside. The Idle Rock's restaurant, run by our head chef, Guy Owen, is a celebration of Cornwall; showcasing a range of fabulous produce that has been sourced locally using only seasonal fresh ingredients. In many cases it will have been swimming right on our doorstep only a few hours earlier and while the food is of the very highest standard our setting is very relaxed. ... more   less
