My husband booked us 2 nights with our 5 month old daughter for my 30th birthday. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The room was gorgeous, we had one with French doors overlooking the harbour with the most amazing view. We'd asked for a cot aswell which was beautifully made up with crisp white linen and...

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are really well decorated and warm with comfortable beds. Food in the restaurant very good and staff keen to please. The only negative, which nearly all hotels suffer from is no decent light for make up.

We had a romantic gateway in Cornwall and Idle Rocks was the perfect choice! The hotel is welcoming, cosy and beautifully decorated. We were greeted outside and the car parked for us. The lovely receptionist was helpful, professional and very friendly. We had a nice walk to the castle and stop at the sister hotel The St Mawes Hotel for...

We've just had the most wonderful stay at The Idle Rocks for my husband's birthday. We stayed at the Idle Rocks for two nights on a mid week break . The hotel is fantastic , as is the St Mawes Hotel. I thought the decor was of a high standard and unique in style. The food was high quality especially the Cornish breakfasts. Location was spectacular even in the stormy November weather. A fantastic time...

Dear Chez99, Thank you for your kind review following your recent stay with us. It certainly is a fantastic time to visit and not half as busy as other times of year. A stormy November view can be just as mesmerising as a summer one. We look forward to welcoming you back to St Mawes and both hotels, hopefully in...

Perched just above the rocks of St Mawes harbour the hotel offers guests the best location in St Mawes without a doubt. We stayed in one of the harbour rooms, which is in a small annex to the main building. All of the rooms apparently have a sea/harbour view. The room was luxuriously decorated. I got the impression that no...

This beautiful hotel sits hard on the waterside. The waves lap against the walls of the foundations. The rooms are nicely proportioned, well appointed (ours was double aspect) and well equipped. A large and very comfortable double bed, en suite bath and shower room, tea or coffee making facilities, a delightful Robertsons Radio and a slightly over technical TV that...

There is so much that is great about the Idle Rocks hotel. It has an enviable location in the pretty seaside village of St Mawes and is so close to the sea edge that you can hear the waves lapping outside your window as you drift off to sleep. There is a stunning outdoor terrace for drinks or coffee with...

We live in Cornwall but it is only this time of year that we have a chance to appreciate it being busy in the summer, so we booked ourselves in for Saturday evening . Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Idle Rocks has the most enviable location in St Mawes, overlooking the harbour with views across the River Fal to Falmouth. Our 19 bedrooms, most with stunning vistas over the bay, have been thoughtfully designed, each having their own unique identity with fabulous fabrics and decor that leave you in no doubt that you are by the sea. After a long day lazing on the beach, our south facing terrace is the perfect place to relax, have a long drink, and watch the world go by. You may even see your dinner being landed on the harbourside. The Idle Rock's restaurant, run by our head chef, Guy Owen, is a celebration of Cornwall; showcasing a range of fabulous produce that has been sourced locally using only seasonal fresh ingredients. In many cases it will have been swimming right on our doorstep only a few hours earlier and while the food is of the very highest standard our setting is very relaxed. ... more   less
