We spent 3 nights here celebrating a birthday. We were in Room 62 in the West Wing with wonderful views of St. Ives and the sea. Well worth the extra charge. The hotel is set in its own beautifully kept gardens with tropical trees and plants including a golf course. There is a woodland walk and path to the beach. Breakfast was buffet style including cooked breakfast, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, cereal, toast etc. Cooked breakfast items were constantly refreshed. Probably the best hotel cooked breakfast I’ve had. We also paid in advance towards dinner which gives you a discount. The menu included steak, fish and vegetarian options. The food was 5 star, fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection, and served with care. We had a wonderful stay, historic spacious building, fantastic food, first class service. The best hotel I have stayed in outside London, and equal to those. Will definitely return, highly recommend. Thank you to all the staff team, who could not do enough for us.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here at the latter end of October and was lucky enough to get married here!I cannot say how much the staff are dedicated and accommodating.Considering we were in the middle of a pandemic, the staff always looked happy and were eager to help to make the stay more enjoyable. The place was spotless and hand sanitizer was everywhere. They had nailed the whole thing-well done!I know we felt incredibly safe. Finally,a massive shout out to Harriet,Stephan and Jose who were working on the day of our wedding.I cannot fault these guys one bit.During these uncertain times,Harriet kept in contact and made arrangements for us under the constant changing guidelines. She is a absolute joy to deal with. Stephan made our day!!!Master of (restricted) cermonies, his enthusiasm was incredible and made us feel so special. All in all,Tregenna was an absolute dream!I wished I could remember all the names of the staff who we dealt with, because they were absolute diamonds. Hold on to your staff Tregenna because they are the heart of the resort! We can't wait to come back!!

Lovely views from the grounds and upstairs sea view rooms. Ours was on the very ground floor and although we could see across the bay it was obstructed. Easy car parking (a must for St Ives). Woodland footpath into town is steep as is the hill into the harbour. We certainly burnt a few calories going up and down. Staff cheery. Breakfast fairly standard, nothing exceptional. Rooms large and overall good value.

We always sigh with pleasure as we drive into the resort, see the views down to The Island from the tennis courts and make our way down to "our" Lodge. This year was no exception and the Covid restrictions were relaxed the day after our visit started. Even though we understand the Lodges had been used at the early summer G7 Summit, for dignitaries, the same issues abounded... kitchen in need of some TLC and upgrade, only half curtains in the main upstairs living room (so impossible to use as occasional sleeping area, as sold to us when we bought the week and there is a sofabed to facilitate that) - and no blinds on the veluxes in that room either, several kitchen items missing (supplied when asked). But despite all that we enjoyed our week away, played lots of tennis, some croquet, a bit of badminton, and golf too. The grounds are spectacular, the sun and sky very Caribbean and the chance to enjoy decent family activities after so many months cooped up, absolutely priceless! However, one real niggle was that there were restrictions on use of the outdoor pool (despite an explict assurance from staff by email before our stay that NO pre booking would be required), with the feeble reason of Covid given. Considering catching the virus is umpteen times less likely in open air than indoors and that in our (very many) previous stays the use of the pool and surrounding deck has always been self-policing (if it's busy people go away and try later, especially if there's nowhere to sit), this was a massive downer on an otherwise lovely week. And despite our requests there were only a couple of chairs and no loungers around the pool. Guests would book slots at reception and then not turn up for them, so the pool area would look empty and yet reception would not allow anyone else to use it. Really bad. We do hope that next time all these niggles will have been sorted, because we SO look forward to our weeks in our Lodge.

Dear Sarah C, Thank you for your lovely comments regarding your stay. We love the fact, especially in the current climate after so many months of being told what to do, that we can offer an element of freedom for our guests to use and enjoy the facilities and amenities that we have here. We are very lucky. We have passed your comments regarding the lodge to our maintenance team for them to investigate and rectify where necessary. We do apologise for your experience of the outdoor pool. We did relax this in early July to allow our guests to "self-police" however it turned out that a large number of guests were unable to do this safely and it resulting in some serious overcrowding. Even though we are in these Covid times, we have a general pool capacity which is determined by Cornwall Council for the obvious health and safety reasons. However this was being abused so we had to revert back to the pool booking system which is something that we didn't want to do. As we are sure that you would appreciate, the Reception team could not always see if the pool is at capacity so they could only work to the numbers that had been booked in. We had encouraged guests to let us know if they weren't going to go swimming so that we could offer the space to others but that didn't always happen unfortunately. We do hope that next year we will be back to "normal", if there is such a thing any more. We look forward to welcoming you back then.

This is how every hotel should be run. The staff were probably the best ever. The view from our room was stunning. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was fabulous. It was a little disappointing that both of the items my husband would have ordered were gone. The towels were big and soft and the bed was very comfortable.
