Called with friends. Quite an experience, it took me back a lot of years. No music so conversation very easy. Friendly staff made us welcome. A wide range of food with reasonable prices. I originate from Stoke-on-Trent and my friends chose to take me to the Albion because of the Tunstall Tortillas, more commonly known to me as Staffordshire oatcakes.... More

As idiosyncratic, extraordinary and superb as ever. If you haven't visited the 'Albion', believe me, life is incomplete: this is how God meant pubs to be. A warm welcome (on an otherwise cold Tuesday morning), excellent beer (Otter) and the best pub food in England. My partner tried the Cottage Pie ("fit for a King") and in a fit of... More

Traditional unspoilt pub with friendly service with smiles, real beers/ales and excellent food at reasonable prices. My favourite pub in Chester because it is largely the same as it was 60 or 80 years ago.

What a delight! Unfortunately we never ate here but what a choice on the menu, looks great. War time decor is great, we loved the old signage on walls, can't wait to visit again and try the menu, especially the Ox cheek.

We have eaten in this inn before, but this was our first stay. We were not disappointed. The room fitted perfectly with the 'old world' charm of the pub downstairs, while being comfortable and well appointed. The landlady was wonderful, she did everything she could to make our stay the best it could be. Breakfast was also excellent, eaten in... More

We saw the Albion while walking to the river on the town wall and decided it looked interesting and well worth a visit. It really is worth popping in, you feel like you have been transported back in time to the war years and your in a small pub that would have serviced all the local families in the terraced... More

First visit to The Albion Inn but it will not be the last. It is amazing inside and no children, no music and no chips. Staff where wonderful and friendly. Great menu proper English food. Thank you. Did not stay in the Hotel so could not answer those questions properly. Just went for a meal and a drink.

Always a pleasure to come here. Great menu, but you cannot beat the Doorstops sandwiches of Cheshire Cheese & Onion, of Carver Ham & Tomato. Absolutely never been refurbished. Roaring fire & dog parlour with water & chopped sausages. Don't just call in for a quick bite - enjoy the atmosphere

Thanks to Christine, I had a great time in Chester at the Albion. Staying in a lovely room over a proper pub with real ales and real food, was a joy. The place was clean, tidy and very very friendly. I would recommend the breakfast too - fresh and tasty with a good simple range of choices.

Honestly felt like I had been reduced to third class after being made to sit in a tiny room because I had two (very well-behaved) dogs. Also, the menu needs more choice; nothing really appealed to me so I was forced to have a turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwich (which I also have to mention was not nice). And... More
