The Fellows House Cambridge, Curio Collection by Hilton is widely recognized for its stylish and modern vibe, offering an inviting atmosphere that guests appreciate. Its location is considered ideal by many, providing tranquility while being conveniently close to city center attractions. While the hotel's range of amenities, including a modern gym and excellent breakfast, receive high marks, opinions on value are mixed due to high parking fees. Praise is consistent for the cleanliness and spacious rooms, although some guests point out housekeeping issues. The professional and friendly service, however, stands out and is often lauded by visitors.

We had a lovely overnight stay here and it was easy to park securely overnight underneath the Hotel for £24. The reception was very welcoming and they were happy to store our bags until the 4pm check-in whilst we went into the city. The Hotel is in a great location and only a 10 minute stroll past a few shops, pubs and takeaways then across the bridge and into the heart of the shopping area. We returned to our room which we found to be spacious and clean with a small selection of hot beverages. The kitchen amenities were a little sparce with no clothes or cleaning products, just kitchen roll, which made cleaning up the mess from our takeaway difficult. The room was nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. The ensuite was well laid out and the shower was good with quality comlimentary products. We didnt eat in the restaurant downstairs which looked nice but we did grab a takeaway coffee from the cafe which was tastey and we found the staff there and throughout our brief stay to be excellent. Highly recommended if your looking to enjoy Cambridge city centre.

For me, the best test of any hotel is how you feel when you return at the end of a day and the Fellows House certainly delivers in this department. From the friendly greeting at the door from to the relaxing bar and courtyard area, the Hilton standards are very much in evidence, making you feel like you have arrived home.
Its close proximity to the City means you can walk to the river at Jesus Green within 5-10 minutes, with the city centre only another 10 minute scenic stroll along the river. There is a sizable underground car park with a number of charging bays. The only downside is that you are not guaranteed a space as a guest in the hotel and visitors to the restaurant can fill up the spaces on busy evenings.
Our “Kipling” room was very well appointed with all the usual Hilton extras and a large bathroom. There are also suites with cooking facilities and lounge areas for a longer stay. My only criticism is that hard floors need to be mopped not just vacuumed and this had clearly not been done.
The restaurant offers a good quality English Breakfast and a fair selection of pastries fruit etc. The evening menu is again good quality, but the menu is limited. We ate in there on two evenings with one quick and efficient and the other a lot slower.
Overall, Great Hotel and Staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is a bit of mix review however overall I absolutely enjoyed this hotel and their customer service was exceptional.

This was our second visit to Cambridge over the past two weeks and we choose to stay closer to the river and this hotel is 10 minute walk from the silver street bridge which is the beginning of the city centre.

The hotel is wonderful, we stayed in the newton room (room 319) which has view from the front of the hotel (personally I think this is the best view) the rooms are studios so you have a kitchen (with a fridge, electric hob, microwave, dishwasher), eating area and a living room area.

Our first night we decided to visit the restaurant downstairs, The Folio (which I will leave a separate review for), they got my husbands T-shirt dirty so management agreed to paying for his dry cleaning.

The second day we wanted our room cleaned and we had our housekeeping sign on from 11am however no one attended so we called housekeeping who then sent someone to come in, we left the guy to change the bedsheets and replenish our bathroom toiletries however when we returned at 5pm the room was exactly the same, he put the ironing board away and put the dishwasher on. My husband and I were absolutely shocked, we spoke to hotel manager and he come to check for himself and was disappointed and got the room and bath all cleaned up.

They had the white company toiletries in the Bath which was nice touch.

Parking is £24 per night - so it’s not cheap personally I think if you’re staying then it should be free.

Dear MSsHoliday, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay overall and appreciated the exceptional customer service, as well as the convenience of our location and the comfort of the Newton room. It is great to know that you found the amenities and views to your liking. However, we sincerely apologize for the housekeeping oversight and the inconvenience it caused during your stay. We are glad our management team was able to address the situation promptly, but we will be reviewing our processes to ensure this does not happen again. We appreciate your understanding regarding parking, we believe that the overnight charge of £24 does represent good value for money and is certainly on par with or even cheaper than other city centre hotels and public car parks in Cambridge. Thank you for your feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back for an even better experience next time. Best Regards, Vanessa de Nava Front Office Manager

This hotel looks good on the surface, but it doesn't take long to discover its many flaws. Staff are friendly, but one suspects there is a lack of proper oversight and guidance because things keep being missed - obvious things. For example, it's normal for a room to be cleaned by the time you get back to your room after a day out. Not here. I arrived back at around 4.30pm to find the room in the same state that I'd left it. It was the same for my 91-year old mother, in the next door room, whose dirty cups from the morning were still sitting next to the kettle. We had hoped to make tea, but couldn't until I went downstairs and alerted reception. Next, design. Not a lot of thought has gone into how things are organised in the rooms and bathrooms. For example, the air con system is operated via an LED display on the wall. It's set at "on" when you arrive. You can turn it off. But what is not explained on the laminated information sheet in the room that it automatically switches back ON if you leave and re-enter the room. This is idiotic. Another example: in the shower unit in my room (223) there were three black bottles with liquids (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). But because they were permanently fixed to the shower wall at below waist height, and because the script explaining what the product was was so small, the only way to figure out which one contained what (shampoo or body wash) was to bend down awkwardly and squint as closely as possible to try and figure it out. Why were these bottles not fixed at about chest height, which is where they so obviously should be? Finally, a word on cost. Beware of the per-person breakfast charge of over £21. If all you need for breakfast is a pastry and coffee, or bowl of cereal, piece of fruit and tea, you are being hugely ripped off here. You are better walking two minutes down the road to the breakfast and lunch cafe. All of this is a great pity, because this could be a great hotel.

Dear jeremygF4263YA, Greetings from The Fellows House, Curio Collection by Hilton. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. I sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your visit. I completely understand your frustration with the housekeeping service. I also want to apologize for the design and functionality issues you mentioned. We are reviewing the placement of amenities such as the air conditioning system and the shower products to ensure future guests’ comfort and convenience. We booked this hotel for a family visit to Cambridge during February half-term. We have stayed at many hotels in the UK and were impressed by the modern and stylish decor. It is quite close to amenities, approximately 15 minutes walk to central Cambridge. This is a scenic walk along a canal and through a large park.

We had a double room which was pretty much an apartment with a kitchenette/studio set up in-between both double bedrooms. Perfectly ample space for my two children to roam around.

Check- lin was straight forward. Parking is underground and costs £24 per day. We had breakfast on our first morning and it was £21 pp. Children eat breakfast for free if under 5. Full English breakfast and continental is available with hot drinks and fresh juice. This was ok, but nothing to worth writing about. We had dinner on our first night too but the menu is rather limited. We had to request for rooms to be cleaned as they don’t visit automatically. No replenishment of dishwasher tablets, only one for a 3 day stay.

The pool is great for the children and there’s also a small sauna and steam room. Towels and water are available in the swimming room. Pool is small but is warm and a perfect temperature for the children. Morning time is quiet as people are heading out for the day or eating breakfast. Evening gets much busier and limited numbers are permitted to use the pool at one time.

Pros
*within walking distance to centre
*friendly staff
*Lovely decor
*Spacious family room

Cons
*No room service unless requested
*Heating in room is impossible to turn down so you will overheat if you don’t request help to turn it down

Would we stay again - Yes. It was a lovely stay and our children enjoyed it. We enjoyed Cambridge overall. Lots to see and lots of lovely eateries

The fellows House is an amazing place to stay, the facilities are spot on, the staff cannot do enough for you. From check in to check out you feel at home and welcome by everyone, the on site facilities for Food and Drink are good quality and competitively priced.
The Gym is well equipped, the pool with built in jacuzzi is just about right for someone who wants to have a little swim and relax, the Sauna & Steam Rooms are Clean with plenty of Towels ready to use along with water fountain.
We stayed in the Turing Suite / Studio... he Bed was massive Super King Size and comfortable and had a TV facing the Bed, Bathroom is a good size with a Combo shower, the Seating area had a comfy sofa again with another TV facing you, the Kitchenette was well equipped, Fridge, Dishwasher, Hob, Coffee pod machine (Nespresso pod type) & Kettle there is a small table to sit out, but plenty of room and does not feel overcrowded.
The SAGE provides Coffee and Snacks from 8am till 4pm, we used this everyday and the barista are ever so helpful and polite.
The Bar is well stocked and as i was not sure what beer to have the Bar tender recommended me a local Ale which really nice to drink again a very Polite Gent.
We did not use the Restaurant, but the menu you looks very good and competitive priced with outside restaurants.
The reception Staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you.
There is a Underground secure car park and is worth paying the £24 overnight (24 hours) charge.
Would we go back again? YES without a doubt perfect place to relax and about 15/20 minute walk into Cambridge Town Centre over the river Cam and through the park :-)

While the decor, ambiance, and amenities of the hotel are amazing, my spouse and I did not have a positive experience here. We booked the Valentine's Day package for a relaxing, short getaway. Our first impression of the room was nice... until I saw the bathroom. A yellow sludge was on the ceiling and mud was caked on the shower walls. It was like someone had mopped the walls with a muddy cloth and then dragged it across the ceiling. I don't usually complain if I can fix something small myself, but this was gross. We promptly called the front desk to correct this, and were assured that someone would be up right away to inspect and clean. 40 minutes went by and no one came. We had to call the front desk twice before someone actually came up. And when someone did, all they did was take pictures! No apology or offer of correction was made from anyone at any point during our calls or complaints about the mess in the bathroom. After another 30 minutes went by after the person came to take pictures, we went to the front desk to speak to someone in person about this. We were once again told that, "it would be corrected." All of this right before what was supposed to be a nice Valentine's Day dinner. Well, once again we were lied to because after dinner, the mud was still on the shower walls.

It was almost midnight at this point, so we went to bed and decided to address it with the manager in the morning. Upon checkout, all that was offered was a measly apology and a 10% discount, which barely covered the parking fee. And once I thought the nightmare was over, a week later I discovered the hotel double charged us for the room!

The Valentine's Day dinner itself was okay, but service was extremely slow, with guests waiting 30+ minutes for drinks and new courses. Our stay was definitely not the romantic and expensive experience advertised. Finally, the phone number listed for the hotel takes you to a call center, not the hotel itself. That was extremely frustrating when trying to get information and reverse the double charge.

Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel, and unless major improvements are made, I would not go back. The pool, saunas, breakfast, and dining room are wonderful, but the customer service and hospitality are really lacking. I do hope improvements are made and that future guests have a more pleasant experience.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The room was very well laid out and although it faced the road, it was super quiet. Plenty of space for clothes and the bathroom was a great size.
Bed was comfortable.
We found the location worked well for us and getting into the city centre was easy on foot.
We ate in the restaurant one night and it was very good. The coffee shop is lovely too.
The parking was good to have but at £24 per day it's questionable as to whether it's good value.
What didn't work so well was the leaking shower which meant we had a very wet bath mat and floor. Reception very attentive to this and wanted to get maintenance on board but as we were checking out the next day we suggested a change of bath mat so as not to be disturbed.
Now for house keeping - where were you folks? At nearly £200 per night I've an expectation that the bed will be made and the tea and coffee station replenished. Having come back after a full day out and indicated that the room was ready for servicing, that it would have been done. Some aspects of the room were also a little dusty on closer inspection. If this is policy on eco grounds fair enough but let your guests know.
Other than the lack of room servicing, the staff were very friendly and professional.
Would we stay again? We'd certainly consider it.

Updated review as of March 2025

We’ve stayed at The Fellows House twice before without any issues, but as someone who works in the cleaning industry, I couldn’t help but notice that a lot of finer details were missed in our room this time. For a hotel in this price range, you expect a higher standard of cleanliness. There was visible dirt on the bedside table, the microwave , the bedding wasn’t properly tucked, and the shower screen, taps, and shower all had noticeable limescale and water marks.

Additionally, when checking out, we were told we had £260 to pay, despite already having paid £250. The receptionist insisted it was just a pre-authorisation, but even after explaining that the amount had been physically taken, he still failed to understand. Another receptionist had to step in to resolve the issue and blamed it on miscommunication! To add to the frustration, after paying a ridiculous £24 for parking, the barrier wouldn’t lift, and we had to call reception for them to open it.

Safe to say, we won’t be returning.

Dear Kateey18, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry that your recent stay did not meet expectations, particularly after your previous positive experiences with us. Cleanliness is a top priority, and we regret that the attention to detail in your room was not up to our usual standards. We will be addressing your concerns with our housekeeping team to ensure improvements are made. Regarding the payment issue, we apologize for any confusion. When a pre-authorization is placed, the amount is allocated to the hotel and will be deducted from your account. While it may not appear as a completed transaction immediately, it is not an additional charge but rather the confirmed payment for your stay. We regret that this was not communicated clearly at the time. Additionally, we’re sorry for the inconvenience with the parking barrier and understand how frustrating this must have been. We will be reviewing our procedures to prevent such issues in the future. While we’re disappointed to hear that you won’t be returning, we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve. If you ever reconsider, we’d love the opportunity to provide you with a better experience. Best regards, Dan Geda - Guest Experience Manager

This is probably the most luxurious hotel that I have stayed in, under the Hilton brand. The experience starts with highly professional individuals serving you on the front desk, addressing you with courtesy and kindness. I really like this, especially after I have traveled for many hours on business.
After check-in, the experience continues as you navigate through the reception area, taking in the ambiance created by the furnishings and music. Once you reach your room via the elevator, you will be greeted by one of the best appointed rooms with high quality furnishings, linen and towels. Bathroom products are provided and are amongst the best I have ever used.
You'll have a great nights sleep and in the morning you can go down for a high quality breakfast. Almost everything is cooked or prepared freshly in the kitchen and the waiter staff are always on hand to help with special orders. You'll definitely be setup for the day ahead.

It's a large well lit car park and, to my knowledge, there's no near by car parking. It's only a short walk into the centre from the hotel, worth paying for.
