Graduate By Hilton Cambridge garners praise for its prime location and charming atmosphere, with the river views and proximity to Cambridge attractions often highlighted by guests. However, opinions on value are split, as many guests question the price point relative to the luxury and service experienced, citing expensive extras. Service quality receives mixed reviews, with commendations for attentiveness tempered by inconsistency during peak times.
While the eclectic decor is admired, the smaller room sizes and lighting receive criticism. Amenities and cleanliness also draw varied feedback, with some guests satisfied and others pointing out room for improvement.

Detailed Reviews
Brilliant! I could stop there but your question should be why? So first let me highlight the tremendous customer service as soon as we got to reception - nothing was too much trouble to make sure our special birthday trip was memorable. Then the general vibe in the hotel is homely, warm and welcoming. Our room was well equipped and had a great view of the river - especially striking on the sunny and frosty days. I imagine that the garden and terrace would be amazing in the summer months - drinking and eating as the punts glide by you. One other less obvious positive is the extensive and reasonably pricing on-site parking - never a given in the centre of Cambridge!
My previous two trips to Cambridge have been on business and we stayed in a different city centre hotel not too far away from this one and have been completely underwhelmed by the service and value with a hotel and staff trading on their name and location. Next time I am bringing our team to this one.
A couple of recommendations - try and get a room overlooking the river - you will be glad you did. Preserve with the driving - the little road it is down does not immediately look right - keep going!
Thanks to all the staff for making this such a memorable few days with my wife. I hope to see you again with my business trip hat on!

You dont find places like this. It was great. Reasonable price, and beautiful inside.
There is a restaurant and health centre.
My only comment would be there was construction when we were there, though it didnt really spoil our stay.
Watch the car park there are times you need to be in and out.

Could not get a better central location, and parking may seem steep at £25-35 but this is very reasonable given location, accessibility and charges to park elsewhere. It’s worth paying it.
Hotel and staff were lovely, and the pool area was very nice.
We took our 1year old with us and nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel was pleasant and the grounds were great. Breakfast was £15pp and you need to add this on at booking or you will pay £18pp.
It was worth every penny, food and surroundings were lovely.
Would have given 5* but there was a few things that could have improved our stay, no conditioner in womens shower rooms by pool, and the mens were out of shampoo, meaning we had to waste time reshowering in our rooms. Litter around the garden eating area and empty glasses were not cleared and were left over night, toddler collected rubbish he found and we had to keep a closer watch with the glass. Small things that did not impact our visit but would have been nice if resolved. Would revisit without hesitance.
Luca at reception was a credit to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble!

To begin with the hotel is very ugly in a beautiful location on the river in Cambridge.
When we arrived I asked the receptionist how long it would take to travel to Restaurant 22 . He informed me there was no restaurant 22 in Cambridge. Considering the restaurant has been going for some time and it is one of only two Michelin star restaurants in Cambridge, I was very unimpressed.
This experience set the scene for the whole hotel.
Our room was small, very dark, with a river view with a very small balcony, which needed a good clean.
The hotel decor is very strange. We felt they are trying to create a college atmosphere, which doesn’t work. The bedroom had fake brown panelling which made the small room very dark.
The breakfast was basically self service. We had to take our basic white cups to the coffee station ourselves. We didn’t see a member of staff at all. This would be fine in a two star hotel, but when you are paying £360 plus £26 parking per night, it’s outrageous.
The whole place needs another make over with attention being paid to service and general cleanliness and appearance.
Next time we go to Cambridge we will find another hotel.

Hi Charles, thanks for your review. We are saddened to learn that you were not happy with your visit and certainly disappointed with the team member you spoke with that was not aware of Restaurant 22. The team at Reception pride themselves in the knowledge of Cambridge, history and service alike. We can only presume you meet one of our newest team member and will, of course, help them on the matter. Nestled in the picturesque heart of Cambridge, the Graduate Hotel offers a charming ambiance and convenient location, making it an ideal choice for exploring the city on foot. Situated amidst stunning surroundings, the hotel boasts ample paid parking, ensuring a seamless arrival experience for guests eager to immerse themselves in the beauty of Cambridge.
While the hotel exudes a certain allure, our stay was unfortunately marred by a few setbacks. Despite our reservation for an accessible room, a mix-up occurred, leaving us without the accommodations I required as wheelchair user. The staff, to their credit, made earnest attempts to remedy the situation by providing the most spacious room available, yet it still fell short of meeting my accessibility needs.
Moreover, the room itself exhibited signs of wear and tear, with noticeable flaws such as ripped wallpaper and loose fixtures detracting from its overall appeal. Although the pool was temporarily unavailable, the jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna offered moments of relaxation. Regrettably, the changing rooms suffered from similar maintenance issues, including a dangerously loose toilet seat.
Ultimately, while the Graduate Hotel boasts a prime location and certain amenities, our experience fell short of expectations, leaving us with a sense of disappointment. Despite its potential, the need for improved accessibility and maintenance detracted from what could have been a truly memorable getaway.

Hiya, thanks for your review. We have also responded directly to your email and internal survey explaining the confusion with your booking. This was made by the agent who, in error, made it under her name with confirmation details being the guests names. The agent also did not book a disable room, this was only mentioned under 'requests' and not guaranteed beforehand. We appreciate that this was a very unfortunate and frustrating situation to be at on arrival to the hotel for you and grateful to see that the team made great efforts to accommodate your needs. We are grateful to see that overall you liked the hotel and amenities and trust this experience will not deter you from returning as we are confident your next visit will be a more pleasant affair. Until then, thanks again for all your input, kind regards,

I’ve grown up coming here for almost over 3 decades and have wonderful memories and its location makes it ideal. Living in Cambridge - being a near local destination - it’s been sad to see this place go down when it comes to those disabled - apparently only wheelchairs apply! The lack of respect, the lack of hospitality, for just simple lighting is awful!! Depressingly the hotel (no matter how many times we’ve spoken about this to them!) do not seem interested in catering to those with severe sight impairment as - without question - they “automatically” dim the lights at 20:30pm in the evenings for “ambience”, never mind that by their decor you cannot see the dark stairs, dark tables, dark furniture etc. it’s not automatic as it’s obvious a human does it and it’s health and safety to have an override system. Shockingly left speechless that the solution is to bring more smaller lights around!! No!! Keep the lights as they are!! To call this a “solution” is in fact humiliating by everyone seeing this and is against the law as it’s NOT a “reasonable adjustment”!! PLEASE, PLEASE resolve and enough with your ambience need. Truly NOT safe for disabled!! AVOID!

Booked to stay in this ‘luxury’ hotel to coincide with a friend’s wedding and decided to treat ourselves to a very expensive river view king room with balcony.
While the location is amazing and communal areas are well presented, they are poorly maintained. The lights in the lift (one of just two) were broken and when we raised it with reception they told us it had been broken for a fortnight. The communal loos/bar toilets were dirty with loo rolls lying about the cubicles, clearly not cleaned for a long time.
On the second evening, I returned to our room at around 7pm to change footwear to discover that housekeeping hadn’t cleaned our room. I informed reception, who told me they would send someone ‘straight away’ which they hadn’t done by the time we returned to our room circa 11pm.
The facilities in the room were poorer than the most purse friendly establishments. Tiny bathroom with a shower that changed temperature and pressure throughout, even stopping from time to time. There was no bath (context: £450 per night… room only!), no robes, no vanity kit, no full length wardrobe and not enough room for two people to coexist comfortably. The ‘balcony’ was a couple of tiny wicker stools that was too small to sit out on and the room itself, putting aside decorative taste was done poorly with plastic laminate floors and walls (you read that right… plastic, fake wood walls).
The service at the bar was appalling… fellow guests were joking about when we might get served, overpriced and again a terrible quality.
On checking out, we spoke to the reception about our stay. They offered us free car parking (I couldn’t believe we were being charged for car parking on a £450 room only rate!) and the use of our awful room until 3pm that day. Couldn’t get out of the fast enough.
I stay in a lot of hotels for work and pleasure. This is by far and away the worst I have stayed in for quality and value for money. Such a shame as this place could be great.
In short, if you are after a great location, have deep pockets and low standards, this is the place for you.

We were disappointed with our stay here. It’s a lovely hotel with good facilities and a great location, but there’s a lot to be improved upon.
Firstly, when we got to our room we noticed the hand towel rail and the main towel rail were both broken.
The drains were incredibly slow draining, so much so that I was stood in a 2cm puddle by the end of my quick shower. The wash basin was the same.
We had a dog with us, so when we checked in we had to fill out a form stating when our room would be empty so that the room could be serviced. We wrote 10-2. A four hour window I thought would be sufficient, but our room was not serviced in this time, and we really needed more towels and toiletries. In the end we had to pilfer some from the service trolley left out in the corridor.
We mentioned this on check-out but the only response was “oh”. Not even an apology. We feel the first night’s £35 pet fee was completely unjustified considering they didn’t clean the room.
The breakfast was delicious and the rest of the staff were very friendly. The bed was very comfortable and our dog was accommodated well.

Hi Rebecca, thanks for your review. We are sorry to see that you found some maintenance issues in your room that had not been addressed prior to your arrival, this is certainly unacceptable and has already been reported and dealt with. We are also very sorry that housekeeping were not able to service your room whilst you were out, the team would have attended to it immediately upon mentioning, sorry if the team at check-out did not understand your disappointment. We are grateful for all your kind comments about the hotel and service, hoping that we will be able to welcome you back again some time and make sure to offer you a great experience then, we thank you for your feedback, kindest regards

Everything about this hotel suggests a fantastic experience and a fantastic location and generally I can't fault it but some of the basics were lacking for what is quite an expensive rate. Simple things like the lights on the beds not working for 2 nights despite being reported on day 1 were a mild irritation but breakfast on sunday morning was a major disappointment. we went down at 9am (hours are 7-10) and had to queue for about 10 minutes as despite there being plenty of empty tables there were no staff to clear them. We ended up eating at a table in the bar area which was ok . However the contents of the breakfast bar (hash browns , yoghurts , bowls , cutlery ) we either missing or very short and tea and coffee service not available. The restaurant manager was doing her best to manage the queue and also everything else in the absence of staff. Not quite absolute chaos but not far off. Was hoping to sit together with some friends but this wasn't going to happen. When you are paying top dollar for a hotel you expect this to be spot on and appreciate the hotel had wedding parties and other guests to cope with but was left feeling disappointed about an otherwise enjoyable experience

Nice Hotel in a great location. Marvelous garden, brilliantly situated in the Cambridge urban countryside. This used to be a Double Tree Hotel, which was taken over and renovated during the COVID-19 pandemic. I stayed there with my family 3 nights. Nice place, great location. However not exactly what I expected for the money charged. There is an obvious issue with cleanliness (silverware, glasses, plates, cups) during breakfast have multiple stains and have not been cleaned properly. The rest rooms lack cleaning brushes for the toilets, the rooms are done only upon request. The hotel has a gym and swimming pool but are accessible only until 19:30, kids are not allowed after 18:00 (very very frustrating). Po water was cold, there are only two chairs on the side, the rest of the geusts have to sit down or stay in the water. Slippers and bathrobes are provided only upon request. No further equipment in the toilets/bathrooms like cosmetic collection etc. The staff is friendly but they do charge 50 pounds per day per person in advance for all hypothetical consumption in the hotel (which will be deducted/returned after check out). Haven't seen sth like it, very questionable in my opinion. If someone is willing to spent the money then why not book other hotels with same star value directly in the center...

Regards,
