Very reasonable rates per night, less than 10 minutes walk both from train station and from city center. The selection of beers is just ok as is the food, but sure there's plenty of other places to eat and drink down in the town and keep the earl of Derby for your starting and finishing point. Needed a cooked breakfast and came here by chance. Very good breakfast served quickly. Free coffee refills. Seemed popular with local building contractors when I was there. Usually a good recommendation for a full English in itself.

I'll be honest 6 years ago this coming Xmas I had to find accommodation as I was working over Xmas period - I came across this pub and they looked after me and through the vagaries of life I ended up living in Cambridge and began to use the pub a bit more.I was always welcomed with a smile and...

We stayed for one night as it is near the train station and not expensive. Accommodation was better than expected, clean room, quiet, but lacks air conditioning (it was 30C that day). Watch for heavy luggage - no lift, only stairs to upper rooms.

Only popped in first of all as it was close to our B&B, sat down watching the darts on Sky Sports when the owner joined us and we spent the whole evening being entertained by his stories. Came back next day for breakfast and the place was packed, which is not surprising as it was excellent food and value. Beer...

Weekend away and went in for a drink one night and saw they did breakfast. We went for breakfast on last morning (change from hotel) Lovely breakfast, cooked perfectly, polite staff. Price was £5.75 for Full English and free tea & coffee refills. Well worth it. Would definitely recommend!

Staff are really friendly and helpful. Sunday lunch was plentiful and tasty. Good range of beers. Nice to be able to sit outside even if it is on some grass next to the car park. Would definitely come back if in the area.

Visited this place end of July and stayed overnight. Rooms basic but clean and had everything you needed. What we impressed with was the owners. It seemed like a family run place and they couldn't do enough for you to make your stay pleasant. Breakfast was in with price of room for us but we did notice price of breakfast...
