Excellent option to stay in Cambridge. The system is a little particular since, instead of having a typical reception, you have hotel staff on the ground floor who checks you in and assigns you the room. But it is an effective and agile system that poses no problems. As for the hotel, it is modern, new, with spacious and clean rooms, without carpet and with a very comfortable bed. The location is, in my opinion, good. Next to the train station, allowing you to leave your suitcase as soon as you arrive, and about 10/15 minutes walk from the center of Cambridge in a pleasant walk. The surroundings of the hotel and the station are very good, with restaurants, a supermarket and office buildings. And all this at a reasonable price, taking into account the high prices you find in Cambridge. Come on, in my opinion, a highly recommended option.

A very comfortable, friendly and convenient hotel close to station. We were visiting Cambridge four four nights by train and were looking for a fairly central spot to stay. The Ibis was ideal. Close to station might sound a bad choice but not in Cambridge. The station square has some of the ambience of a pedestrian piazza. Several cafes, a Sainsburys and a bar / pizzeria present in the Ibis and next door. There is a very small reception area where we were welcomed warmly and efficiently. There is a bar reastaurant and a fairly small lounge area (with occasional live music) And upstairs a large breakfast room with excellent varieties of foods and beverages. The rooms are fairly typical Ibis , small but beds are vry comfortable with pillows to enjoy! The ensuite toilets and showers were in "pods" within the roome and were interesting . I would note that there is a mall step up (two inches or so ) to get into the ensuite which was a bit of a surprise when I went to visit at night half asleep. I dont know if anyone has ever tripped on this!. The staff were fantastic with personality and humour. Thank them all! Great stay in convenient reasonably priced hotel!

I stayed one night for a meeting. It is in a great situation - with a rather expensive car park just around the corner. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was fine - although rather mean shower gel and shampoo etc and no water in the room (bottled) The TV did not have reception for a number of stations but the main few were available. The Phone and wifi reception in my room was rather poor. But bed comfortable and well sound proofed from the outside world. But my real downside point was the poor breakfast. There was very little for the low sugar healthy options. Most importantly you felt rather second class when you saw the lovely croissants that were in their cafe on the ground floor and then the atrocious poor quality tiny croissants available in the breakfast room. I would have liked some low sugar plain yoghurt, there were scrambled eggs, not very nice bread and the usual suspects sausages, poor quality bacon etc. Think a little effort and thought for the healthier eater would be good but otherwise a total acceptable nicely situated hotel

I had forgotten that when you stay in a good Ibis - you can’t get better value for money. I’ve paid a lot more for other hotel rooms and not slept nearly as well as I did on a recent 2 night stay at this Ibis. We had a great start by being accommodated with an early check in which was unexpected and very welcome. Typical Ibis room - has everything you need and excellent AC. We had booked for breakfast both mornings but due to a large group of students couldn’t get a table at our chosen time the first morning. Hannah in reception let us choose from the brunch menu and have it in the cafe which was just perfect. The following morning was much better, plenty of seating and a really good breakfast. Loads of choice and everything was replenished when running low. Good coffee too! We had the best sleeps - comfy bed and we seemed to be put in a room away from where various groups had rooms close together - so no doors opening and closing near us! Whoever leads the team and trains the staff for customer service does an awesome job. Every single person we encountered - reception, cafe staff and housekeeping were so friendly and helpful and also a smile. I would definitely stay here again and the location is great - a bit of a walk into the centre but there are plenty of cafes shops and the convenience to the train station is excellent. Had a great stay thank you Ibis!

Our 8 night stay at this hotel was quite good. We must say though our bright spot every morning was a lovely greeting by one of the staff for the breakfast. Her name was Ella. She was such a star! Always a smile on her face, special ordered poached eggs for us with a smile. She was so organized with checking guests room numbers, clearing tables when needed and ensuring the breakfast items were all topped up and everything on the bar was tidy. She truly was amazing and deserves all the accolades she can have in her position with Ibis. She is truly a great ambassador for Ibis!

Perfect location right beside the train station, places to eat and shop right outside and an easy walk into town. Although very close to the station it is at right angles, not overlooking the tracks like some station hotels so no train noise. It was a bit noisy on the Saturday night as the taxi rank is just outside (so you may want to ask for a room at the back of the hotel to avoid this) but not a problem on the Sunday. Sound proofing is not great and you can hear when other rooms are using their shower.
The rooms are compact with not much floor space, just a little hanging space in the corner and a very small shower room, so I wouldn't want to stay for too long but for a weekend or overnight stay it is perfectly adequate. The bathroom could do with a shelf to put your toiletries on and hand towels should be provided (we were only given two bath towels). However the beds were very comfortable, the room was clean (even cleaned during our stay which we've not had elsewhere since Covid) and a good powerful shower.
Check in is meant to be 2pm but we (and others we noticed) didn't get in to our room until 3pm. The foyer has comfortable sofas though and a cafe (my friends had pizza there and said it was very nice), and even live music on the Saturday night (couldn't hear it in our room though which was good).
The best bit about this hotel (besides the location) is their customer service. We were a group of friends on a trip to celebrate our special birthdays (delayed due to Covid). To mark this occasion the hotel had left a surprise in our room - little bottles of prosecco, brownies, fruit salad and chocolates - what a lovely surprise! The last time we visited Cambridge was to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday and we paid a lot more to stay in the University Arms Hotel. All they did to mark my dad's special day was to leave a little card in the room, yet the Ibis did all of this! It's personal touches like this that would definitely make me return to a hotel, thank you.

We stayed at the Ibis 3 years ago and we were really impressed with how clean and comfortable the rooms were. Unfortunately the hotel is showing signs of wear and tear now, despite the huge hike in prices. The room was clean in all the obvious places still but no vacuuming under and around the bed, marks on the pillow cases, marks on the mirror, and hard, uncomfortable pillows. It gave the feeling of a rushed and surface clean. The bigger issue was the air conditioning/heating system which was noisy and ineffective. We turned it off altogether but it still started to rattle in the middle of the night, not quite sure how? Had we been staying more than the one night, we’d have asked to move rooms.
On the flip side, the check in was easy and the young people organising it were polite and friendly. The rooms are unaffected by external noise mostly, although you can hear showers being turned on. Of course it is also a centrally located hotel that undercuts most others nearby so that’s a big plus. But £100+ a night just to rest your head? Could do much better.

It is a very well located hotel, with young staff that gives the hotel a quite relaxed air and good energy.
I really liked the live music event, which helped to relax after a few more demanding working days.
At the staff level, Anna (from breakfasts) was always very kind, friendly, attentive and very helpful!
The girls at the bar with whom I talked most often (Melissa, Vero, Inês, Kelly and Lucilia) were always very friendly and fun and especially very professional. The pizzas and salads were very good!!
The staff of the housekeeping also was always impeccable!!!! However I leave a note to the direction, because I got to know that they only have 10 min for the daily cleaning of the busy rooms....and in my case that was a stay of 15 days, my room was not aspirated once. Therefore, I suggest to the hotel management that in case of longer stays, maybe it is worth having a slightly different cleaning plan.
Overall, I liked quite the stay

I would rate this 3/4, but no more- the location is good, though being next to the station some rooms get noise from train announcements. Double glazing and aircon meant that it was ok with windows closed, though the rooms remained rather too warm overnight [and this was in moderate weather]. Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean, and staff very helpful. Like other reviewers we would have liked a room fridge. The decor is dated and the en suite shower room was an odd prefabricated 'pod' with a mediocre shower flow, fan permanently on, and a noisy door. Check in desk very oddly and awkwardly placed in bar area.

This is not a budget hotel- and as far as we could see, not the cheapest for the location. For the price we expected a bit more. I would not rule out staying here again but I will probably try elsewhere next time.
