The Avon Gorge Hotel is difficult not to like, because it is quite charming. The location is excellent, with beautiful views of the gorge and Suspension Bridge, and just minutes to the heart of Clifton with all its bars, restaurants and shops. But the hotel lets itself down on the basics: the wifi is almost completely useless (at least on...

A really enjoyable family get together and the food was good too. We had friends over from South Africa so wanted something a little different so the view of the CLIFTON suspension Bridge was unique and our friends enjoyed the experience. We had a good table near the glass doors. A couple of us had the special which was cod...

The hotel was very friendly but rather old fashioned within the hotel. Parking was a nightmare with very little parking on site we had to park about half mile away. The rooms are in need of some upgrading. The bars and restaurant were very good with outstanding views.

We booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 children and were amazed by the beautiful views over Bristol's suspension bridge. The room was excellent and catered for all our needs. The restaurant was excellent and my 4 year old loved the ice-cream hut on the terrace. The only negative, and this has a big impact on my 'average'...

A very nice hotel indeed. Our room was large, and overlooked the gorge and Brunel's Suspension Bridge. Breakfast was very good, and we had a nice meal there one evening. Polite and efficient staff - altogether an excellent stay

Was intending to visit the suspension bridge but it started raining heavily so I decided to dive into the nearest bar, which happened to be the Avon Gorge. I love old traditional hotels like this, found myself a comfy seat in the bar and stayed all afternoon. Had a bar snack and a good few pints. Didn't see the bridge...

Super location, with relatively good service. Breakfast is pleantyful, but could do with a little more attention to the freshness of the fired eggs - a little too many waiting on the hot servery means hard yolks! The only thing that is a pain at this hotel and many many others are the awful pillows that hotels provide. Always bouncy...
