Awful experience. Extremely poor customer service.
We pre paid £30 deposit towards £50 meal for two people for a friend's birthday celebrations. Two days before meal, we informed East Lodge that one person couldn't attend due to childcare issues.

Lovely hotel in beautiful countryside, close to the pretty village of Bakewell. Gorgeous food, particularly good breakfast. Pleasant room with good views, four poster bed and tv in bathroom. Excellent staff who were all very helpful and considerate.

The previous answer is correct in that the nearest station is Matlock and then it is bus or taxi. The reviewer who suggested that you could get to Manchester from Matlock had not made allowances for the closures instigated by Dr Beeching in 1966 since the line from Bakewell to Buxton (The Monsal Trail) is now a brilliant walking track with all the tunnels open to make a fascinating experience. The express bus into Buxton and then the train would be the simplest way to get to Manchester. Alternatively the local bus to Sheffield and then the train.
