This is the only place that inspires me to do a review. We visit on a regular basis and it never fails. Thank you to Oliver- front of house (as charming as ever), the charming young lady from Brittany who served us, the chef and everyone behind the scenes. The food never ceases to impress and the service is faultless....

The hotel and staff are lovely, but we were expecting great things regarding the food but oh dear not to be. My duck liver starter had the most extraordinary chicken nuggets and oily glupe all over it. The venison main course was well cooked but on the plate with it was a whole carrot !? Why ? My husband had...

The Peacock is a lovely quaint country hotel with lots of olde world charm with a hint of modern styling. The staff are very attentive and helpful. Very nice to be served tea on arrival with a home made shortbread biscuit and the breakfast was lovely. The room was nicely decorated but not luxurious, it didn't have the wow factor...

staying in Matlock, we were looking for a lovely place to eat for our anniversary, the Peacock was recommended to us. we had a lovely welcome, we were taken through to the lovely bar area, where we had a drink and some nibbles while waiting to look through the menu, an amuse bouche was followed by taking us into the...

Stayed for 2 nights early January. Fantastic welcome from all the staff. Throughout our stay the team at the Peacock managed to strike the difficult balance between professionalism and friendliness and offer both in abundance. We ate both nights and the food was superb, great flavours using quality ingredients. The same goes for breakfast. The room was very comfortable and...

We stayed here between Christmas and New Year with our two little dogs. The highlights were the food and the staff who were all very helpful. The chef also paid particular care to cater for my vegetarian brother and his wife who could not have any alcohol in her food. We liked the information sheet every breakfast and enjoyed reading...

Very good service and the food was excellent. Although fresh milk was delivered to the room on request there were no biscuits. is there a trend to stop providing biscuits in hotel rooms? The cost of the dinner from the menu prices would have been £50 for 2 courses and £62 for the 3 courses I chose. Hence I think...

For our New Year's Eve this year, we had a small gathering: Just my wife and I, celebrating also our 53rd wedding anniversary. For Pat's birthday lunch a couple of months previously, we had a larger gathering of 10 of the family. On both occasions the welcome was genuine, the food was superb, the ambience was perfect, and the celebrations...

We stayed as a family for 2 nights in one of their suites between Xmas and New Year. We loved the place. Superb food; stylish, relaxed and comfortable surroundings; but most of all a friendly can-do attitude from all their staff. Really different to many other places we have stayed. Brilliant - we will be back!

Charming character, lovely service and excellent food set in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside what more could you ask for. For the money you serenely got good value for it, I would highly recommend the Peacock to any and all.
