I was born in Powell river so was excited to show my partner around for a few days during my birthday. The Beach Gardens is probably the nicest hotel in Powell River and surrounding area. The room was good. The view can’t be beat so I wasn’t let down with that. The wifi doesn’t work. So if you’re needing to get work done while you’re there don’t bother and just do it beforehand. My partner had tried to get something set up in the room for our arrival for my birthday (dessert or something similar) and was told by front desk that they had never heard of such a thing. He was confused as that’s pretty standard. He was then told that the restaurant was closed Sunday&Mondays. It was disappointing because we had planned on having my birthday dinner below at the restaurant. But we found an awesome Mexican restaurant in town instead. When we arrived my partner drew a bath for me to relax from our travels and found dirty hand prints on all but one towel. No biggie it happens. We put all the towels in the tub to have them changed the next day when our room was cleaned. Unfortunately we left the room at 11am the next day and returned at 4pm and our room wasn’t touched. My partner found a housekeeper and their cart on the bottom floor and asked for a couple of fresh towels and they seem confused but gave them to him. Having no housekeeping also meant no I room coffee the next day as well. Perhaps having the things you can hang on the door handles would help out housekeeping in keeping track of who needs some cleaning and who doesn’t. All in all it was an excellent trip and Powell River and Lund don’t disappoint. With some upgrades (cleaning up the grounds, having the permanent residents clean up the outside of their homes) this resort could be 5 stars no problem. Even without things like room service! We had a nice stay and will be back!

We had a great stay at the Beach Gardens. Cute little resort. I stayed with my husband (was here for work) and my 2 children 9 and 7. We were there 4 days 3 nights. We stayed in the building above the restaurant. We had a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, tv, and an amazing view from the belcony. From our balcony we saw seals, sea lions, bald eagles, otters, variety of birds, and orca whales. The beds were very soft and comfortable. The pillows were a bit too full for us but overall had a great sleep. The only complaint I had for the rooms were that the walls were paper thin. You could hear everything! You could clearly hear conversations coming from the next room and them clicking on the room lights from their side. I wasnt too bothered myself from this as the hotel was not full when we stayed, but I was worried people could hear my kids and be annoyed and trying to keep them quiet was hard. They had a continental breakfast which included cereal, oatmeal, croissants, bagels, toast, yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs, juice boxes and coffee. The view from breakfast was great. The pool was in it's own building and you have to sign out a key everytime you use it. The pool was warm ish. It feels warm when you get in but we found we would get chilly pretty fast. But at least this resort has a pool. Its hard to find a hotel in Powell River that has a pool. The restaurant under the hotel was fabulous! Delicious food and great selection of wines. The staff (especially Cheryl) were very polite, helpful, and welcoming. Overall it was a great stay with kids.

It was a decent hotel in that the room was clean and we had a nice view with AC during a heat dome.

Downsides were:

No COVID protocols in the elevators, no sign for masks or # of people permitted in elevator. Also no signs for masks for inside areas except front desk and restaurant area. It was clear many visitors needed these reminders.

The continental breakfast left much to be desired…..as much as it could be in COVID times the coffee tasted like watered down folgers, there were no plates available and the waitress from the restaurant running it had a real attitude when asked about coffee cups and then had it pointed out the coffee urn was empty.

On the morning we left two women from housekeeping showed up banging on the door. Check out is at 11 am. What’s up with that?

Overall the hotel is good for a night or two but not long stays. Get a room on the top floor and get breakfast up the street at Serious Coffee.

Beach Garden Resort was our first stop on our summer motorcycle trip. Very large property on the ocean across from a smaller marina. The newer part of the resort is lovely with large, well kept oceanview rooms and a large balcony. There is an on-site restaurant but with limited hours and a liquor store too. Sadly, the resort has seen better days. Most of the rooms in the older parts of the resort were closed and not been used for a long time. We would definately stay again as the location is good and very quiet as it's away from the main road and good value.

We just spent two nights. We were pleasantly surprised by the room as had seen some negative reviews but booked anyway as was a good price and there wasn’t a lot of choice for hotels.

Our room was in the newer building (building with vinyl siding). It was very clean and had been recently renovated/updated so was in really good shape. The view of the marina and ocean was wonderful. The room included A/C, Kureg coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. We didn’t use the TV.

We didn’t go to or even look at the pool so can’t comment on that. There’s a really nice small beach beside the hotel which we really enjoyed. It was super hot out so we swam in the ocean. Saw whales and seals.

Breakfast (included with the room price) consisted of cereal, toast, bagels, yogurt and coffee. It was just okay but not great. Some fruit or juice would have been a nice addition.

We ate dinner at the bistro and the food was good. Not a huge menu.

We recommend this place if you can stay in the newer building. The other buildings look super shabby from the outside.

Our stay was just okay. Beds are comfy enough but the heater/AC is extremely loud and the walls are paper thin. We only slept soundly because we wore earplugs. It is marketed as dog-friendly but they’ll charge you an extra $20 when you check in having a dog, which was an unpleasant surprise since that wasn’t mentioned anywhere when we booked. They also don’t allow dogs in rooms with king-sized beds, which we also didn’t find out until we checked in. Overall, it ended up being a very pricey stay for what it was. We would not stay again.

Thank you kindly for your review. We took good note of your comments. We have 4 pet friendly rooms all located on the 3rd floor, all double queens with some amenities for the pets. unfortunately we don't have king size rooms pet friendly. Websites do mention that a pet fee will apply and front desk agents do inform before check in. There are no surprises. We look forward to welcome you back in the very near future. Kind Regards. Great location right on the ocean. Our room on the forth floor had wonderful views of the Salish Sea and sunset. We picked it because we had a dog with us and it was “pet friendly” for a fee. Clean and tidy. There are some rather run down buildings on the extensive property and the restaurant on the ground floor overlooking the small beach was a bit too pricey for us. The complimentary breakfast was very good.

As this was a work related trip to Powell River, during the provincial travel recommendations, I anticipated there may be some changes to the available amenities or services. I am a diabetic, so I need to ensure that food is available to me, especially at breakfast. As the dates for my visit approached, I checked every couple of days to ensure the provided continental breakfast was still available. I was advised as early as the day before, that it was. Upon arrival I was informed that it was no longer available but a paper bag with some food items would be provided. this was true on the first two days of my three day stay. On the last day, no breakfast items were available. Although I appreciate them ensuring breakfast food was available on two of the three mornings, it is sad that they simply chose not to continue this service. Otherwise, the property was fine, and the restaurant was very good, for dinner.

The room was very nice, and the view was AMAZING. I got to wake up hearing and looking at ocean, where humpbacks swam by on the first morning. The staff was helpful when I needed extra items in my room, but the biggest problem I had was the wifi. The entire time I was staying there, it was terrible. No matter what time of day (they said it was a problem in the evening but should work in the middle of the day), it would drop connections or go offline while I was using it, if I could connect at all.

We were shown the town and he assisted with grocery location clothing and restaurants.
