Standard pub grub or at least what we had was. Frozen food I expect but the homemade tarter sauce was a nice touch. Friendly welcome and the place feels like it's going through a change / updating process. There are still plenty of 80's throwbacks and I hope they lose those in time. The no dogs anywhere policy is a...

Dear Stephi1975, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are pleased that you received a friendly welcome, and yes, you are right, we are currently updating the building. However, as I'm sure you appreciate, these things take time and as a family business with three boys under 11 we have a lot on our hands! We...

Food is excellent here. The chef/owner serves up creative and appetizing dishes using fresh local ingredients. With obvious (to me) influences of French country cooking and Mediterranean styles, the food is tasty and filling. There are some notable fish dishes.

The young couple who bought this formerly rather tired pub have invested a lot of time and thought in improving it. It is a work in progress as they fully admit, but none the worse for that. The food is better than you will get in any similar establishment - the chef is creative without being intimidating. I have eaten...

I have been here a few times for food. They have since refurbished it and it now looks much more appealing. I came here with friends and we had food and lots of wine. The staff were very accomodating and friendly. We sat outside to enjoy the evening weather...albeit looking on to the car park but you cant have everything....

We spent three nights at the Rose & Crown and dined in each evening. Danny (the chef) and Henri were the most amazing hosts. They were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Danny's cooking is way above the standard pub fare and at a very reasonable price. The accommodation was fine and, for the price, excellent value. It...

A great location to meet with family and so much to do in the locality. Very friendly hosts who own this family orientated pub restaurant with good value BnB. Extensive quality menu at terrific value, and wide range of drinks. Polite staff and comfortable rooms. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and look forward to the next time, already booked.

Danny cooks high quality food to perfection - the only problem was choosing what to eat as we wanted everything on...

This was a trip to Derbyshire with no prior knowledge of The Rose and Crown. What a treat! It's more of a "Restaurant with Rooms" - the food is the absolute highlight of this place. But the rooms are good - warm, well supplied with drinks and biscuits - and the welcome from Danny was excellent. We'd definitely like to...
