This suite was ideal for a romantic getaway. We loved the quiet location, which is still close to the town of Ucluelet. The free breakfast was outstanding - it arrived in little baskets at our door, fresh, home cooked and included locally roasted coffee. We were 5 minutes walk from Majestic Kayak Tours (which I also highly recommend!) so it's perfect if you plan to do some kayaking.

The bed was super comfortable. The fire in the room is safe and makes it very cosy, with generous materials provided. The jacuzzi was big with powerful jets and the toiletries and robes provided were a nice touch.

Thank you Kevin for giving us our privacy, delicious breakfast (at short notice!) and a wonderful stay at Hyphocus Inn. We will be back!

Stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed our visit. Kevin has done everything to make the space cozy and romantic. I recommend ordering the breakfast which is delivered to your door at the requested time. Alternatively, it's walking or biking distance to restaurants and the brewery. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Everything was lovely.

We spent three days in Ucluelet and, due to a late start, had a lot of trouble finding accommodations. Fortunately we found Hyphocus on the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce website - it's a new B&B which has just recently started taking guests and had room for us.

They have two rooms for guests - each has a separate entrance and the room we stayed in (the Spring Cove room) was large and beautiful. The pictures on their web site don't really do it justice...beautiful wood and gorgeous tiles. The bathroom has an air massage whirlpool which came in handy after a fun day of hiking.

The room has a queen bed but the owners put in another queen (nice airmattress on a raised frame) since we have two children - there was plenty of room. There's no kitchen in the room, but they do provide a refrigerator (very quiet) and utensils. There's a beautiful double sided fireplace (which we didn't use) that would be very romatic. The furnishings are lovely. The unit includes a small TV and had four beach towels and two boogie boards.

However it's the owners (Vicky and Kevin) who make the place very special. They were incredibly helpful (when we asked about the nearest laundromat, they did our laundry!). They pointed us to a great whale watch (actually, bear, eagle, whale, seal and sealion watch) and a surfing school. They provide delicious breakfasts - each day was a little different. One day had cinnamon buns, another croissants; each day had different fresh fruit mixed with yogurt and granola. Each day four pieces of chocolate (local artisan) appeared magically in our room.

The rooms are attached to the owner's house and is located on a quiet street southeast of town (the town is so small that everything is closeby). There's a pretty view of a small nearby estuary, but the views aren't the reason to go here. They are quite close to the Wild Pacific Trail (a 2.5 kilometer trail in Ucluelet) which has stunning views of the Pacific and the Broken Islands.

Prices aren't cheap (we paid $195 a night which included all taxes), but are reasonable for Ucluelet in August.

Very helpful owners, excellent breakfast, good building, good location.

Only downside was noise travels from the owners house next door. The children were very noisy spoiling what was supposed to be a romantic evening. They did quieten down at a reasonable time.

A recent two night stay at this location proved to be the best of the four we stayed at during our visit to Vancouver Island. The hosts (Kevin and Vicki) are very nice people who were very accommodating and helpful. The room we stayed in was clean, and huge! The fireplace came in handy and the bed (and pillow) was a dream. Breakfast was a touch above the rest, and left outside your door with fresh coffee - allowing you to relax and enjoy the view (and it was a great view!). This was a room that both of us looked forward to returning to, and would certainly stay here again in the future.

We split our four night anniversary trip - two nights in Ucluelet, two in Tofina, and were glad we did - both were unique and charming.

I love traditional B&B accomodations; however, my husband is uncomfortable staying directly in someone's home, so the The Hyphocus Inn was, for us, the perfect blend of privacy and personal touches.

I'm struggling to add anything new to what has already been said in previous reviews, but heartily confirm ALL the praise. For the most part, the Hyphocus Inn met or exceeded our expectations. The only exceptions - the view was more trees than water, but gorgeous none-the-less, and the television (another DH requirement) was small, but the island is far too magnificent to spend time in front of a T.V. anyway!

We arrived to a warm welcome and chat with our most gracious and helpful host and hostess, then retired to the upstairs accomodations, which were delightful...jazz playing softly, logs in the fireplace...a perfect setting for our anniversary getaway.

I returned home with fond memories and a new recipe for the best granola ever - even DH enjoyed. His favorite was the freshly baked cinnamon rolls.

The Hyphocus Inn is just as beautiful as it looks on its webpage [--]. Everything was perfectly fresh and clean. Super quiet with only one other suite above. Nice views.

Delicious breakfast every morning featuring homemade granola, fruit, yoghurt dish and fresh baked croissants. My 9 year old son is a conniseur of crossants and he said these were yummy.

Owner Vickie was very approachable and forhcoming with suggestions for places to eat and things to do.

Close to Ucluelet, a true paradise.
Our highlights were the Pacific Rim National Park bog and rainforest trails.

We stayed for two nights (Sat and Sun) during April 2007.
The place was so beautiful, serene and cozy. The double air massage tub was fantastic, as was the heated slate tiled floor to step onto after your soak. The breakfasts were beyond delightful and the owners were so helpful and accomodating. I'd recommend the chocolate fondue/massage package to anyone who wants a delux romantic stay. We'll be going back again!

We had a wonderful visit last year, the room is perfect for a comfortable stay in this brilliant part of the world. Great facilities and comfortable bed & sofa.

The view from the window of the river coming in was fantastic. An eagle decided to take a rest in the tree right outside!

The breakfast the friendly host brings each morning was really something to look forward to.

We just returned from a four night stay at the beautiful Hyphocus Inn and had an absolutely wonderful time! The inn is nestled in a beautiful, peaceful forest setting about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Ucluelet. Our room (the downstairs room) was gorgeously appointed and exceeded our expectations with its giant Jacuzzi bathtub, wood-burning fireplace, cozy couch and breakfast table. The breakfasts were delivered right to our door each morning at whatever time we requested and each morning we were blown away by the quality and deliciousness of the meals! We felt so very lucky to get to stay four nights at this wonderful inn and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone. It's very romantic and best suited to couples, I would think. The only small downside as others have noted is the noise from the suite above (footsteps and muffled voices), but it really wasn't a big issue at all. We can't wait to stay at this beautiful place again! We definitely left a piece of our hearts behind in Ucluelet.
