The lodge is set on the Marina in Ucluelet within walking distance of downtown, walking trails and places to eat. There is a lovely veranda overlooking the marina to sit and drink your coffee and watch the activity on the marina.

We stayed for two nights on the weekend. I'm guessing the demand and thus room prices go up significantly on weekends. We certainly paid way more for the room than what it is worth. When we checked in we had a room on the lower level and it was very noisy from foot steps from the room above. They did upgrade us to what they called a king executive suite when we requested a room on the upper level due to the noise. We really appreciated the upgrade however the room was very dated, the carpet was past its' best-before-date and the decor was very haphazard. The TV did not work well and the upstairs room with the king bed was very basic and without a TV.

If you like a communal kitchen they do offer one on the grounds where you can cook your own food.

High marks for location but in terms of the actual room itself we paid way more money per night for this room than what we felt it was worth when comparing it with some of the other hotels we stayed in on this west coast vacation.

Our first room was supposed to have a water view, but that would be a very generous description (avoid 101). The staff were able to switch us to a room that actually had an unobstructed view of the harbour - very pretty. Comfortable beds; a good shower; guests visiting on the balconies make for a loud evening, but the quiet time was enforced (at least after I complained). There is an accessible route but the steps down from the parking lot are a challenging design of slippery log plus rocks. Laundry machines were twice as expensive as a standard laundromat. Walking distance or a short drive to restaurants etc. Competitive pricing for the location. Friendly staff. Clean enough but shows signs of age.

It is in a lovely location and is a great stay for larger groups or families. The parking is easy, the views are incredible, the beds are comfortable, and the location is great. This is a very busy time of year and with COVID19 restrictions and an older hotel there are challenges, but I imagine this would be found in many places at this time. There is a small fridge and micro which is handy for breakfasts before venturing out and evening snacks as everything is so busy right now and most things close early. We had an outlet which didn't work and they provided a brand new extension plug to accommodate. Julie, the manager, is very receptive and helpful.

We stayed in a basic two queen-bed room. Our stay was uncomfortable and filled with inconveniences. 1. Not only did the shower not drain (a 10 minute shower resulted in ankle deep water), but the bathroom got damp and stayed damp overnight even with the fan on. For four people, we were given one soap and a set of shampoo/conditioner, which was not enough. 2. The walls are very thin and we could hear every movement of the people staying upstairs. 3. We stayed on the ground level and were told to shut our door despite us having a normal-volumed conversation. It was illogical because it was hot & no different than if we had our window open. 4. Therefore, the rules and expectations were very unclear. There was also a curfew of 10pm which is VERY early for the summer and is not stated on their website. 5. There are no phones in the unit and despite staying for 4 days, the room was never cleaned and the garbage was never taken out. I guess the positive is the location—but there are definitely other places to stay!

Our family of seven spent three nights here and had a very comfortable stay. The executive loft room was the perfect size, and spacious enough for our family. A rustic, if perhaps slightly dated, property, the room was well appointed with a fully remodelled bathroom. Room amenities included a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and television. There was no safe in the room. We also had a lovely view of the inlet and marina.

As our stay was during COVID, the hotel wasn’t providing daily housekeeping service. However, whenever we called the front desk for additional towels, toilet paper and such, an employee was always at our door literally within minutes with whatever we had requested. Staff encounters were universally pleasant.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property to others should you be considering a stay in the area.

Our experience wasn’t lovely unfortunately.
We pulled up and I went to check in. To our dismay, I was informed that my family of six ( 4 small kids ) would have to pay an extra 15 per night / per person. We had planned to stay three nights, but on top of the already 1,140 for three nights they wanted another 240. I asked if I could cancel my reservation and they said I could, but I’d have to pay for my first night ( 440 after taxes ) keep in mind...this is a very run down old hotel.
I politely declined as we didn’t have money to pay for two hotels. I decided to instead only stay two nights instead of three as I couldn’t afford to pay 1410+ for 3 nights.
Once we arrived in our room, we were met with a dirty towel ( mud or dirt all over it ), cleaning supplies and there was squished crackers on the bed. We immediately called and asked if it was possible to move us to another room. They promptly did and once we finally got the key, we tried to open the door but it wouldn’t open, so we had to make a third trip back to the office.
We got into our room and it smelled moldy and felt very dated.
I will say, the bathroom was lovely, but the room is pretty outdated. We got all our kids to finally sleep and we realized the walls were paper thin. So thin we could hear conversations of the people next to us, their newborn crying ( as if he was in our room ) I’ve never been in a hotel with such thin walls.
We are only 1 day into our 2 night stay, but we will NEVER stay here again. I’ve never written a hotel review before and we travel a ton.. but I thought I would warn people. We work hard for our money and I can’t believe I paid 876.00 for two nights in this dump. It shouldn’t even be 150 a night.
This has been the worst experience for our family and I’ll pay the extra 20 bucks and go stay at Black Rock again.. as it’s absolutely amazing.

On our way to the pacific rim I search for a hotel at the last minute called all the hotels in Uclulet and tofino, during the long weekend. All hotels were showing full, when I called this hotel the lady on the phone said they are full but offered to take my number in case a booking get cancelled, this was the only hotel who offered me this. Sure enough in the following hour she called me back saving me from a cold night in my car. When I got in an gentleman welcomed us, they have bilingual staff (french/english) I was amazed by the beauty of the site the room was so beatiful, cozy vith view on the marina, so peaceful. Staff were very usefull and friendly will come back and definitely recommand this place to stay.

Big family room: 4 queen beds. But with limited view on the marina.
The common kitchen is closed "due to COVID" (the standard answer to limit service nowadays). But hopefully, it was sunny so we were able to use the patio and its BBQ (had to purchase a small propane tank, as it was not provided).
So, overall a good experience. But I have difficulties to understand the price stategy of hotels and B&B in Ucluelet and Tofino. Good for them they are always full. But this is not a budget destination is you don't camp...

I had specifically requested a room with a great view (like a corner room with more windows), spacious, and if a room with a view of the marina was available, to please put us in that room. We were given a lower level room with no view of the harbour. The “garden” view was green plants/weeds, and hardly any flowers if any. Our beds were quite hard, the tv barely worked, the hair dryer was broken, our key card didn’t work, no complimentary breakfast… for the price we paid, I feel like we got completely ripped off. The staff weren’t very professional either and were unavailable at checkout. Would not recommend this place to visitors coming from out of town - go for one of the better places even if it’s a bit more money.

My fiancé and I paid over $700 for two nights and did not have clean or hot water. The water was brown when we tried to run a shower. We took photos and a video, and when we showed staff, they said there were issues with the Towns water system. As for the lack of hot water, we were told that the water heater usually is enough for two rooms, but the shared room must have used it all...? We emailed the manager, and she offered a 25% discount if we come back.

Hi Ivan. The Canadian Princess is now under new ownership and is no longer offering fishing charters. For more information on the lodge, and to get the contact information of the new owners, please visit their website. Unfortunately TripAdvisor doesn't let me post websites, phone numbers or email addresses here, but if you do a search for "Canadian Princess" their website should come right up. I hope that helps.
