Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not very impressed, sink/washroom wasn’t cleaned well especially for covid times... Didn’t want to touch anything on the sink. Cleaned toilet myself. I could also hear the people next to us clear as day talking which made it hard to relax and sleep, or to even watch a show on the small tv lol. Don’t get me wrong the lady who lives here is lovely but the house keeping and thin walls could use a fixing... that’s for sure :(

Nice area, room presented well. Good bed, functional.
Unfortunately a non soundproofed wooden structure, with noisy guests below and beside made for a poor night.
Host recommends a different hotel if a guest is seeking quiet.
🤷‍♂️
Bring good earplugs.

We stayed here late August for one night. The room was clean and well appointed. We had to rebook from an earlier visit and they applied their "No cancellation" deposit to our new date. The "resort" location leaves a bit to be desired. Our room looked out on a ministorage area and recycling facility. It is actually located well away from any water in a light industrial area but walkable (10 - 15 minutes) to downtown area.

UPDATE Re: My previous reivew - WON MY DISPUTE

"False and misleading advertising. Pacific Rim Lodge advertises "free cancellation" on booking.com but does not honor this. When I received my confirmation I was shocked to see that in bold red it stated "no free cancellation". I called the owner to inquire and he stated just this specific room was a no free cancellation and that we should contact booking.com. He said he would not cancel my reservation and there were no other days available to book. I called Booking.com and they say call the owner as the owner is responsible for advertising that is misleading. I looked further and noticed on trip advisor that there are many many reviews stating concern over false advertising and also complaints of charges being put on their accounts after check out from Pacific Rim Lodge. I have posted both the advertisement that I saw and then the confirmation for the exact same room. One stating free cancellation on the advertisement (you can see I even filtered for free cancellation) the other confirmation showing the ad was a bait trap to mislead. Due to this and the false and misleading information a formal complaint has been submitted to both the better business bureau and BC Consumer protections against both Booking.com and Pacific Rim Lodge. Be aware your free cancellation will not be honoured by this business. I have posted photos of other reviews as well as I am a highly concerned consumer."

Since this time, I continue to see reviews stating that this business does not honor the free cancellation through booking.com. I have confirmed with booking.com that the owner is in control of ALL ADVERTISING on booking.com platform - meaning the owners are aware that they have misleading information on that site. At any rate, if you fall victim, start a dispute immediately with your credit card company. I presented all the troubling screen shots and promises that were not kept and won my dispute. It's too bad the owners put me through that when they could have easily cancelled my reservation in the first place.

This place is very misleading… long walk to town and in industrial area. Manager/owner was a total jerk when I mentioned this had been booked a year in advance for our honeymoon and this was the room we got? His reply was “Your not happy,… your not happy, what do you want me to do, sounds like you want a thousand dollar suite with an ocean view”.. as I stood there in camo shirt and blue jeans, ya that’s what I look like I want… idiot! It is in the middle of junkyard for boats and shipping containers. The room was nice but my romantic soaker tub view was of the junky grounds just mentioned, broken down boats and shipping container yard…not my idea of romantic and there was large wooden hand railing that was surrounding the unit and of course the chairs outside our suite door faced an ugly railing and back wall and roof of main building. I would not recommend this place. Pictures really do it justice.

However..We did find a lovely room at the Cabins at Terrace Beach just a few mins down the road and at a much lower rate, beautiful room tucked away in the trees a bit, looking over the bay, amazing sunset, very serene, would highly recommend.

My booking of this hotel started right before covid hit. My husband and I were suppose to stay in April but COVID hit and the hotel was closed. I reached out to get a refund but the owner said "no he wouldn't do that" so I figured I would just change the date to May 31, 2020 but little did I know things would get worse. So again I rebooked to May 2021 hoping we could go then. We'll lots of things can happen in a year and I ended up having to have foot surgery and couldn't walk. I reached out to the hotel through email and phoning leaving a message and no reply. The date of our stay has passed and I am out $159.
I was informed by my credit card company that if I had contacted them right away in 2020 they would have refunded my money but now it is too late.
I would never stay at this hotel nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

The owners are lovely. We had an issue with our dates and they went to great efforts to help sort things out. The lodge is great value compared to the much more expensive properties in Tofino. Great local restaurants and lots of options for outdoor activities. Very comfy beds!

Glenn and Dianna are both lovely and helpful. Rooms are clean and well furnished. We got a free upgrade when we arrived and had such a great time we stayed there again on our next visit. There was a large jacuzzi in our room as well as a floor to ceiling fireplace. Great spot! 10/10

We stayed here as 4 adults in one room when we came for a wedding in Tofino. These are the most comfortable beds and pillows I’ve ever used I think! The room was spacious enough for 4 people and luggage. The bathroom was separated slightly by a hallway which was nice! The hotel is quiet and we had great sleeps every night. The owners seem friendly. The view is… not much really. You look out at a storage facility. But we weren’t there for the view or to sit in our room, so it didn’t matter much to us. Lots of space outside on the decks to sit and hang out. Room was clean and had cute decor. Wifi worked GREAT!

Our experience at the Pacific Rim Guest House was overall positive.
Large room with two comfy beds. Very clean.
Some of the amenities could have been upgraded (toiletries and coffee provisions), but for the price point, it was fine.
The grounds were a bit junky/messy..... would be nice to have that cleaned up, but if you look up, there are some nice views of the mountains and great star gazing.
