Visited here with friends on Saturday from the moment we arrived everything was perfect. We were checked in by a very helpful and friendly guy called Dave. Then he showed us up to our rooms. (he seemed to be working all the time, he checked us in, served us drinks in the bar, waited on our table at dinner, brought...

The place appears to be a bit outdated but well kept. Called in at lunchtime on easter Monday and the food was very good indeed and so was the service. The location is good with a large car park also gardens to the rear.

From the moment we arrived with our 2 dogs, we were welcomed and looked after by brilliant staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Dave in particular was a star! The food was excellent, the local real ale superb, the room was clean and cosy, the surrounding countryside - mainly cider orchards - was glorious. I wish all accomodation...

Having stopped previously in room 2 (and given an excellent review), I was looking forward to my next stay at the Portway Inn. However, that was not the case. Room 6 has no windows. Suffers from noise from the boiler next door. Suffers from noise from an extractor fan outside. Has no heating in the bathroom. Whilst the fried breakfast...

I am sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us this time, and hopefully I won't be too repetitive here given our previous email dialogue about your issues. As I mentioned by email, our full breakfast has 8 items on it and unfortunately, if you order it to come without 3 of those items, as you did, the breakfast just...

Went out for my boyfriends birthday meal. Just the 2 of us. Wanted to choose somewhere that we hadn't eaten before. Every time we drive past The Portway, we always say how nice it looks and that we will go there one day. I've heard lots of people say it's really good food. So I thought it would be worth...

We stopped here on a wet Saturday lunchtime on route to Hay on Wye from the Midlands, having visited the Farm shop/Garden centre Oakchurch before we knew this pub was here and thought we should try it for lunch. We all had the fresh Fish and Chips and it was excellent, the deserts were very yummy as well. The pub...

This was a lovely little find with fabulous food. Sunday roast was lovely and they accommodated my gluten free diet. The only slight negative if you have a room above the dining room with a large party beneath it was quite noisy - but we were shattered from a days travel and were in bed quite early!! Would still stay...

Stopped here because I was passing it. What a find: a very reasonably priced room - spotlessly clean, a comfortable bed and a piping hot shower in the bathroom. The evening meal and breakfast were very good indeed, with a choice of locally sourced produce. Definitely one to choose if you are in the area.
